Michael and Laurie face each other deeply, both hold a knife pointed at each other while Laurie's free hand gently touches Michael's masked face. Just as his free hand holds her head, keeping her gaze at him. There is a single bloody cut on Laurie's left arm, but she remains clean, unlike Michael who has several bloodstains all over the clothes he wears and the knife in his hand. Rereading symbolizes intensity, obsession, the pure and raw love in his sick aspect for her.
