Spoiler Review: Street Fighter
This week we review and discuss Street Fighter, a martial arts action movie directed by Kitao Sakurai and starring Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji and Callina Liang, about martial artist Chun-Li, who recruits the fighters Ryu and Ken Masters to join a tournament and confront the dictator M. Bison. We discuss how the movie had an interesting core with the story of Ken and Ryu that was dragged down by flawed and muddled execution especially in the ending that prevents Ken from earning his victory because of basic storytelling mistakes, why the fights were especially disappointing and why Hollywood in general struggles with martial arts and whether video game adaptations have to be this way, how the movie could have brought to life the world of Street Fighter and didn't because of the choices it made, and much more.
