This is a new image from #JWST. The bright points with spikes are stars in the Milky Way. Everything else is a galaxy. Everything. Else. Is. A. Galaxy.

Did you know Jupiter has rings? You can see them, faintly, in this infrared image from #JWST. The giant planet's aurorae (at both poles) are also clearly visible, as are a few of its irregular, inner moons (the largest of which, Amalthea, is at the far left).

In a historic first, the James Webb Space Telescope has performed a direct mass measurement of a black hole in the early Universe. Located 13 billion light-years away, this black hole weighs in at a massive 50 million times the mass of the Sun. #JWST #SpaceNews #Astronomy 1/4

The image of Cassiopeia A (Cas A) taken by the #JWST shows a supernova remnant in near-infrared light. The scene is dominated by a bright inner shell with compact clumps in bright shades of pink and orange, representing sulfur, oxygen, argon, and neon. A large, streaked blob, nicknamed Baby Cas A, appears in the lower right corner, visible in lighter shades.
