Historical perspective matters when evaluating where we are re: speaking out abt abuse. These artifacts are from the 80s/90s when I began doing media. We've come a long way. Brown U has my papers from that era, and will receive many more items such as these. #CSA #DV #IPV #Media #History

A bookshelf with three major items -- a pass for "Hour Magazine" TV program that I appeared on in 1987, A "Reserved for Press" sign from Senate Judiciary Committee that I arranged for a survivor, and a CNN coffee mug from one of my several appearances during the 90s. These items will go to Brown University Hay Library with many other papers and artifacts that they acquired to document the childhood abuse survivor movement.

Last night I attended the Not So Silent vigil in Halifax. We honoured those women lost, and those we will continue to lose, until society chooses to stand with us and speak up. A woman died from #IPV in Canada every 2 days in 2024. I will not be silent. I will be as loud in 2025 #nspoli

“You got from there to here. So what happened next?” Stede continues.
“Um. I had to spend the weekend in jail before they were open for Izzy to bail me out. The court was backed up so we didn’t have a no-contact order at first. Izzy figured it all out.”

$Flashback to ed looking EXTREMELY rough, bearded, bedraggled, obviously just after Izzy bailed him out of jail. They’re sitting in silence for a panel before Izzy starts “State is gonna press charges on my behalf. We’ll have to settle. I talked with the prosecutor yesterday. I haven’t released my medical records so it’ll be a first time offense. Easy. Standard shit. Period of separation. Some counseling shit if we want to keep cohabitating.” “Your medical records?” “… Yeah, Ed.” Izzy says “You’ve been to the hospital about this before.” Ed says. “… Yeah. When shit didn’t get better on its own.” Izzy says. “… That makes sense. Like when you had that brace. Told me to shut the fuck up about it.” “You broke my wrist, Ed. Three concussions. The fight we had before you left got me three fractured ribs. I’m getting older. And you’re getting worse.” Izzy says.$

Ed covers his face, “No no no NO, we… We fight. All couples fight! Sure we’re loud and, ah-“
“Ed. I’m not. I just can’t end up in the fucking hospital again, okay? Don’t. Don’t fucking CRY. It’s we just gotta make a plea bargai-“
“And after?” Ed interrupts him. “We ALWAYS fuck after a fight so I fucked you with a concussion? With broken ribs-“
“SHUT UP SHUT UP!” Izzy yells over him, “Or get out of the fucking car!”
Ed does throw himself from the moving vehicle, there’s the screech of breaks and Izzy says “WHAT THE FUCK ED!!”
Izzy puts his head down on the steering wheel in frustration while ed says “Just leave me Izzy….”

Izzy gets out of the car, screaming “YOU DON’T GET TO DO THIS TO ME ED GET IN THE FUCKING CAR WE ARE THREE BLOCKS FROM HOME.”
Ed is slumped out of the car, feet still in it, “I’m a monsterrr”
Izzy tells him to GET UP but Ed talks over him, “Did.. I’m just my father. I don’t… With the boys, I…”
“I hope you wouldn’t think so little of me.” Izzy replies, “I’d leave. But you’re your best self with the boys. Apparently this shit is just for me. Now get the FUCK up, Ed.”
