I really don’t like that the government is sending citizens advice on being “emergency ready”, instead of working to prevent emergencies from happening, and having a plan in place if they do. That’s called governing isn’t it? #IEPOL

EMERGENCY FUNDED PLAN An emergency funded plan must be put in place by the next budget to immediately address the needs of people with an intellectual disability being cared for at home by parents and family members who are aged 70 and over. 2. STATUTORY REGISTER OF NEED Every person with an intellectual disability who will require supported housing must be identified, recorded, and planned for. 3. PERSONAL TRANSITION PLAN BY AGE 18 Every young person with an intellectual disability gets a housing and care support transition plan, started at the age of 16 (when granted disability allowance) to be in place by 18. 4. REFORM THE HOUSING APPLICATION PROCESS AND ESTABLISH A 'ONE STOP SHOP' • Connect the HSE, Departments of Housing and Disability, Service Providers (Sections 38 and 39), Local Authorities, families and individuals with an Intellectual Disability. - Proactively process, quantify, and manage housing and care support applications and associated funding with agreed key performance indicators and publish an annual report of activities and progress to ensure accountability and track delivery. • Reform the housing application process to address the specific needs of adults with an intellectua! disability. 5. INCREASE AND RING FENCE FUNDING TO SECTION 38/39 PROVIDERS • Increase and ring-fence multi-annual funding to ensure funding is not diverted to disability requirements other than housing. - Reinstate CALF/P&A funding to ABs who provide housing to cover both construction and maintenance. • Reinstate CALF/P&A funding for acquisition and refurbishment of existing properties, enabling people to stay close to services in their own communities. 6.
