🧵 This new magnificent image, showing a pillar of gas & dust in the Eagle Nebula (M16), is part of Hubble’s 35th anniversary recent celebrations, which include revisiting some of its most iconic subjects. ➡️ esahubble.org/news/heic2507/ Credit: ESA/Hubble & NASA, K. Noll 🔭 🧪 #science #space #HST
This Hubble image depicts a tall, thin pillar of dark gas clouds in the Eagle Nebula. It is darker and broader at the base, broadening again at the top, with spikes, fingers, and wisps of gas protruding from its head. Most of the structure is dark, illuminated only at the edges from behind, creating a dramatic contrast. Behind the pillar lies a vibrant wall of colorful gas, transitioning from bluish at the top to redder at the bottom. Scattered across the scene are several blue and gold stars, enhancing the visual richness.

🧵 This fantastic composite image by Hubble shows NGC 3603, a vast star-forming nebula containing a huge star cluster, located some 20,000 ly away in the Carina–Sagittarius Arm of the Milky Way. Whole credits and image source at ➡️ science.nasa.gov/asset/hu…. 🔭 🧪 #galactic #stellarastro #HST
The Hubble image of NGC 3603 shows a bright young star cluster at the center of a nebula, surrounded by clouds of gas and dust. The massive stars shine like fireworks, creating a cavity in the surrounding gas. The dominant assigned colors highlight distinct chemical elements. They are: red (iron and hydrogen), yellow (hydrogen), green (sulfur), blue (hydrogen), and white (visible light).
The combination of bright stars, vivid colors, and nebulous structures creates a visual effect that resembles a pyrotechnic explosion, with a central cluster that appears to "sparkle" against a background of gas and dust.

🧵 This stunning #Hubble image shows AFGL 5180, a beautiful and vast star-forming region in Gemini. ➡️ nasa.gov/image-featur... Hubble’s WFC3 is able to capture images in visible and infrared light and so to see more clearly the young stars hidden in a dusty stellar nursery 🔭 🧪 #stellarastro #HST
This image shows AFGL 5180, a stellar nursery in the constellation of Gemini, captured by the Hubble Space Telescope. At its center, a massive, forming star emits powerful jets that pierce the clouds, creating illuminated cavities. The starlight propagates through these cavities, highlighting the scene like a beacon among the clouds. The surrounding dust clouds create a spectacular visual effect.

🧵 The #JWST has opened a new window on the universe with the MIDIS (MIRI Deep Imaging Survey) project, focusing its instruments on a tiny patch of sky in Fornax, called the Hubble Ultra Deep Field (HUDF). This area, already made famous by... ➡️ esawebb.org/images/potm2... 🔭 🧪 #science #HST
"An area of deep space with thousands of galaxies in various shapes and sizes on a black background. Most are circles or ovals, with a few spirals. More distant galaxies are smaller, down to being mere dots, while closer galaxies are larger and some appear to be glowing. Red and orange galaxies contain more dust or more stellar activity."

Hubble has captured this image of the nine rings of LEDA 1313424, nicknamed the Bullseye! 🎯 Its observations helped confirm a blue dwarf galaxy (seen to its left) flew through the Bullseye 50 million years ago, leaving these rings behind. #Astronomy #HST

🧵 This breathtaking 315-million-pixel composite from Hubble shows Chamaeleon Cloud I (Cha I), one of three segments within the Chamaeleon Cloud Complex, a huge star forming region at the surface of the Local Bubble. ➡️ science.nasa.gov/missions…. 🔭 🧪 #galactic #Hubble #HST
This Hubble image features a portion of the star-forming region Chamaeleon Cloud Complex, called Cha I. It contains dark, dusty clouds, reflection nebulae lit by bright young blue stars, and bright orange and white knots called Herbig-Haro objects, with jets of hot gas ejected from a protostar at the center of an orange-white cloud below. Bright stars have cross-shaped peaks.
