🚨 I’m very happy to finally share two papers published together today in Communications Earth & Environment! 🎉 They represent a big part of my #PhD research and tell one connected story about #animals, #environments and #hominin life along the Lebanese coast during the #Paleolithic 🧵 1/9 🦣🧪🏺

This is HUGE. Unconditional #repatriation of 28,000 fossils from the Dubois collection to Indonesia. Largest ever fossil and perhaps natural history #restitution (AFAIK). Famous #hominin fossil included. Lots of things to unpack, here are some preliminary thoughts. /1

Nederland geeft fossielen Dubois-collectie terug aan Indonesië. Statement en meer informatie te vinden op www.naturalis.nl/persberichte...

For #FossilFriday an image of a 2 million year old #hominin humerus freed from the rock just today so you are among the first humans in the world to see it! Prepared by Zandile Ndaba or "Ma Zandi" the work on this skeleton has involved her for years. We owe her and our other preparators a great deal
"Ma Zandi" in her labs and a new 2 million year old hominin humerus prepared only today.

New evidence from Grăunceanu, Romania, places hominins in Europe at least 1.95 MYA. Cut-marked bones & isotopic analyses reveal temperate, seasonal habitats that supported early dispersals. This discovery reshapes timelines & highlights hominin adaptability. #paleoanthropology #anthropology #hominin

Arabia was once a green oasis, allowing many different species of #hominin to thrive and adapt as they made their way out of Africa. It’s long been hypothesized - now we have the evidence. @mdpetraglia.bsky.social and I will be discussing the implications soon. Read up, and stay tuned!
