Fantastic thread on the massive #gypsum crystals cave in Mexico! I thought they'd be fun to visit, until I read, "When not flooded, the cave is extremely hot, with air temperatures reaching up to 58 °C (136 °F) with 90 to 99 percent humidity." Wikipedia. Now, I just enjoy the photos! #MinCup26

You should vote for #gypsum in the #MinCup26! How cool are these caves full of massive selenite crystals?! They inspired my crystal cave crab print, part of my series of plausible but imaginary animals. Plausible but imaginary is harder than you think cause animals are weirder than you think. 🐡

I'm team #gypsum! It has a form called selenite that consists of long bundles of clear fibers, kind of like a natural form of fiber optics. The fibers can transport an image from the back to the front of the rock, giving it (and ulexite) the nickname TV Rock.

Team #gypsum all the way! At the 2019 Earth Educators' Rendezvous I was able to spend 8 hours underground at Mammoth Caves National Park to capture high-res (zoooomable) photospheres. Check out the amazing gypsum snowballs and flowers, grayed by torch smoke! www.mrhollister.com/360/M….
