Grand Teton National Park. Center in the background is the Grand Teton, reaching an elevation of 13,775ft /4198.62meters. A good place to see moose, elk and both grizzly and black bears in the forest slopes. #geography #parks #nature #photo #landscape
iconic view from the Snake River Overlook within Grand Teton Park . This specific vantage point was made world-famous by photographer Ansel Adams in 1942. While the trees in the foreground have grown significantly since his time, it remains one of the most photographed spots in the American West.

Geographer Ellen Churchill Semple was born #OTD in 1863. A founding member of the Assoc. of American Geographers (1904), she was its first female president, 1921. Significant contributor to the early development of the #geography discipline (US) & a leading figure in #humangeography. #WomenInSTEM
A black-and-white vintage portrait photograph of American geographer Ellen Churchill Semple, taken in her later years. She is shown in a three-quarter view from the chest up, gazing to the side of the camera with a calm and composed expression. Her light-colored hair is styled in soft waves and pulled back elegantly. She wears a formal dark dress with a wide, sheer lace or net overlay across the bodice and shoulders, featuring intricate patterns and subtle embellishments. The background is a plain, softly faded studio backdrop. At the bottom of the image is her handwritten signature in cursive ink: "Ellen Churchill Semple.

McKenzie River, Oregon watershed supports a wide range of native species, including threatened & endangered ones such as Chinook salmon, bull trout, and native “redside”. #ecology #nature #geography #photo
the McKenzie River in Oregon is a cold, fast-moving river that flows for about 90 miles from the Cascade Mountains to the Willamette River. Its waters are especially clear and pure, fed by springs and snowmelt, and they make a constant rushing or bubbling sound as they course over rocks and rapids. Along the river, thick forests of fir and hemlock grow, creating a damp, earthy scent and soft feeling underfoot if walking on the banks. The air is often fresh and cool, and birds like osprey may call overhead while fish such as salmon swim beneath the surface.

Glacier National Park is in northwestern Montana along the U.S.–Canada border. It had 150 glaciers in the 1800s, only 25 are left and may disappear if climate warming continues. #parks #climate #geography #nature #photo
