Hi #GenHour, how has your week been? I've made exciting genealogy progress this week. Thanks to the additional indexing of records by JewishGen, I was able to locate the death records for three of my direct ancestors in Slovakia. I was able to order digital copies of all the records too!

Hello #GenHour people. Apologies for missing the last two weeks -it was for the worst and best of reasons. Two weeks ago our beautiful cat Missy died suddenly. She was only 10 & was so fit & healthy, such a shock. We miss her immensely.

#GenHour If I find a really good story and the person's only related by marriage (often a chain of marriages) that's not going to stop me from chasing a good story. The Ancestry Relationship Calculator can really take you out into the weeds, but who cares how absurd it sounds if the story is good?

From my understanding - based on that show - the lodging house was ubiquitous in the cities and it was really a last resort in terms of places to stay before either sleeping on the streets or going into the workhouse for people who couldn’t afford to pay rent for actual room. 2/2 #GenHour
