This week: more #brachiopods (mostly Gotatrypa) from the #Silurian (~435 MYA) of Anticosti Is., Quebec 🇨🇦 in company w #trilobites, #gastropods, #corals & #crinoids; brachs average ~2 cm across

Fossil seafloor assemblage composed of a pavement of numerous small brachiopod shells, including Gotatrypa, Coolenia & Eocoelia. Amongst the brachiopods are scattered trilobite sclerites (calymenids & encrinurines), small favositid corals, snails, and crinoid columnals. The image shows an area about 30 cm across.

The Ocellate Cowrie (Naria ocellata) is a beautiful little shell covered with many tiny 'eyes'. It is relatively common in South India and Sri Lanka. #seashell #seashells #shells #gastropods #gastropod #sciart #marinelife

A large group of small, glossy cowrie shells on a white background. Each is beige/brown in colour with many white spots. Some of these have a smaller dark spot within them giving the appearance of tiny eyes.
