A scene at dusk, greys and blues with a tall hill rising out of the forest and on top of it a little building with orange light at the windows and a slender swirl of smoke coming from the chimney.
Excerpt from the book: Right in the centre of Strangehollow, there is a very small keep, perched precariously atop a very tall hill, rising out above the tops of the trees with views all the way to the distant mountains.
Although it has a front door, you will never see anyone enter or leave. There have been rumours that the keep is merely just the tip of the iceberg, that the hill itself has an elaborate maze of rooms inside where the lonely wizard who lives there performs his spells and keeps a library filled with ancient leather-bound books.
It is said that there are secret tunnels that lead away from the hill so he can exit via a hollow tree trunk or hidden cave. At night, the warm glow of candlelight can be seen at the windows and trails of smoke billow out of the chimney.
What mysteries lie within, we will never know.

My illustration of the Mermaid of the Magdalenes is a blue and black linocut print on 11” x 14” paper embellished with gouache. The upper left corner shows the red cliffs, beach, shipwreck and crate and tins on the shore. The upper right shows the meeting of all the fishes with many different species including the black lobster, merman, sardine, clam, starfish and more. In the centre are waves, clouds as ocean transitions to sky and a large tin of sardines. Across the bottom is the mermaid combing her hair looking longingly at the shore.
