At this tragic time, our hearts are with the brave Canadian service members who lost their lives in a devastating fire, and those who continue to fight for their lives. We stand with their families, friends, and colleagues whose worlds have forever changed. #CanadianArmedForces

The Princess Patricia’s light infantry are a group of really tough characters. Extremely well trained, fearless warriors. Today the P.P.C.L.I are mourning a great loss and tragedy. Along with the town of wainwright the province and county are mourning also. #CFBWainwright #PPCLI #CanadianArmedForces

Today, we honour the brave Canadian Armed Forces members involved in the fire-related training incident that occurred at CFB Wainwright on October 17.

We express our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of Sergeant Morgan Wong, Private Shaun Farrell, Private Aidan Goulding, and Private Hayden Lykkemark, who lost their lives. We thank them for their service and will never forget their dedication and sacrifice to Canada.

Our thoughts are also with the Canadian Armed Forces members who sustained injuries, and their families, friends, and colleagues who are supporting them during this difficult time.

Finally, we thank the first responders who provided immediate assistance and the health care professionals who continue to provide medical care and support to the injured members and all those affected.

Four soldiers died after training continued beside a known grass fire at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright in Alberta. Newly detailed range orders recommend early-morning live firing from August through October; no breach has been established. #WainwrightBase #CanadianArmedForces
