In spite of how dry it is, the game gets positively WET for its fetishes. It has that going on for itself, at least. Now, I may be done with #BlueReflection but I still have three more titles to peruse, which I intend to do at some point. Hopefully, more can be built atop this foundational text.

Also, while the game doesn't really commit to any romantic pairings (sad face), it does give us a character whom is openly, unambiguously in love with the protagonist (smiley face), and she's an absolute freak about it (shocked face)! This is a Shihori Appreciation Post. #BlueReflection

In spite of everything, I did manage to find some enjoyment is the optional interactions between the main heroine and the various, wacky girls in her life. I would like to present to you a few highlights I like to call, the "We're All Girls Here" collection! #BlueReflection

The game has a minimalist yet elegant visual identity. It was developed by Gust, the studio known for the "Atelier" series. So, they know how to craft an aesthetic regardless of budget limitations - which were many and evident. It never looks as good as its promotional art, sadly. #BlueReflection

Hence, past the inherent strength of its premise, the whole ordeal felt underdeveloped or extremely safe in pretty much every aspect, story or gameplay or otherwise. Conceptually ambitious but not factually ambitious. I do not have that much to say about it beyond this. #BlueReflection

My initial observation about its themes (mutual love and understanding saves humanity) turns out to also be its thesis statement, the bulk of its theming and the baseline that informs every single character arc... and that's all that there is for most of it. #BlueReflection

#BlueReflection was a surprisingly dry experience. Bereft of any substantial forward momentum in its narrative, it ran around in circles made out of repetitious gameplay loops, quintessential characterizations and poor pacing. A long low-stakes setup for a rushed high-stakes resolution.

One thing that's annoying me about the Switch 2 version of #BlueReflection is the loading before a battle. You don't have to wait super long but this still feels longer than back on PS4 and now tends to come with a black loading screen for the first battle in any given Common dive.
