The edging towards outright fascism combined with biddable new technologies able to subvert conventional barriers of democratic decency to make it commonly “acceptable” is novel in my lifetime. i still cringe for him remembering when he was #bbcqt giggling and imploring the audience to back Boris Johnson as he breathlessly proclaimed it was exciting as we just don’t know what he might do next. Heaven help us with this level of political expertise
