Eight months later, LilWeird is back.
For the return episode, we’re traveling to the coastal desert of Peru to explore Chankillo — an ancient ceremonial complex best known for its mysterious line of thirteen towers.
Built more than 2,000 years ago, Chankillo may have functioned as one of the earliest known solar observatories in the Americas. From specific observation points, the rising and setting Sun appears to move along the row of towers throughout the year, creating a remarkably precise way of tracking the seasons.
But Chankillo is more than an ancient calendar.
