I just finished the 1st draft of my first novel!!! 😱 Is it messy? ✅ Will it need edits? ✅ Am I proud of myself? ✅✅✅ 97 writing days, 8 months and many years to get to this moment. Excited to see where this takes me. I’m now EDITING my wip. #writingcommunity #amwriting #amediting

Editors, whenever an author says there are three things, five conditions, eight colors, etc. make sure you count to ensure that there are in fact three things, five conditions, and eight colors. You'd be surprised at how often numbers in text are wrong. #AmEditing

For the last few weeks, I've been working on a book that was laid out in InDesign, but now I'm going back to a book that's all in HTML. Entering changes on it sucks. It's making me sad. #AmEditing

Some free advice for copyeditors and proofreaders: If an author refers to a named person with the pronouns "they," "them," "theirs," consider the possibility that MAYBE THE AUTHOR DID IT FOR A REASON AND YOU SHOULD LEAVE THEM INSTEAD OF CHANGING EVERY SINGLE ONE. #AmEditing

Dear author who's deleting, rewriting, and inserting whole sentences during the proofreading stage: If you wanted the text to say something completely different, why didn't you write it that way the first time? #AmEditing
