A 'rebellious' exoplanet orbits in the opposite direction of its star
A star and its planets form when a cloud of gas and dust collapses in on itself somewhere in space. The cloud then forms a disk around the nascent star, within which the planets will form. This protostar and its disk then rotate in the same direction.

Newfound 'baby' planet smashes record for youngest known world
Astronomers have confirmed a world less than a million years old as the youngest known planet, using data from archives. Called Elias 2-24 b, the baby planet is still whirling in its natal disk of dust and gas.

Last Call for Humanity: The Astronomical Signs of Our Inevitable End
🌌 Is the Universe Hiding a Death Sentence for Humanity? What if the most exciting discovery in human history—finding alien life—is actually the final nail in our coffin? Welcome to the frontiers of Cosmic Dread. In this episode, we dive deep into the terrifying theoretical breakthroughs of 2026 that suggest our search for the stars might be a hunt for our own extinction. From the Tsinghua Vacuum Experiment simulating the instant collapse of reality to the chilling Dark Forest Theory, we explore why the universe is silent—and why it should stay that way. 🧬 Why You Should Be Terrified: - The Great Filter: Why finding alien ruins on Mars would prove that intelligence is a terminal evolutionary flaw rather than a success. - Cosmic Malware: Could we be the target of interstellar predators using digital signals to erase competitive species? - Observation-Driven Destruction: Is our own scientific curiosity, powered by the Quantum Zeno Effect, inadvertently destroying the universe's stability? - Exodepopulation Theory: How biological and social evolution leads every civilization to a silent, inevitable dead end. We break down Generative Physics and the Fragile Simulation Hypothesis, questioning if our reality is suffering from fidelity decay. Whether you're a fan of high-concept science or existential horror, this episode will change how you look at the night sky forever. Are we the lucky survivors or the next victims of a metastable universe? 🛸 🔔 Subscribe and share this episode to spread the existential dread—because if the False Vacuum Decay hits, this might be the last thing you ever hear! Join the conversation on the future of humanity. Stay curious, but stay hidden.

JWST ruled out finding tiny moons around an exoplanet—that's great news
The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has opened many wonders of the cosmos to scientists since it began science operations a few years ago. But one thing it hasn't done is find an "exomoon." These still-theoretical moons orbit exoplanets in other star systems, and JWST was supposed to find a plethora of them.

Looking for Earth 2.0 in binary systems
While astronomers have found thousands of exoplanets over the last few decades, the true prize continues to elude them—they have yet to find an Earth-mass, rocky planet orbiting in the habitable zone of a sun-like star. That's partially due to cosmic geography—around half of all sun-like stars near us aren't alone. They have one or more companion stars that complicate their orbital dynamics, as well as those of any planets they might host.
