This Agave "Blue glow" was very small when it was planted a couple years ago. It's a very slow grower, but it's finally developing the cool red and yellow leaf margins it's famous for. Sadly, they're monocarpic and only live around 15 years, so buy them small! 🌱 #succulents #agave #gardeningfeed

If I'm honest, I have a love/hate relationship with this Agave Horrida. I love the geometric shape, it never pups and is the toughest plant I own. That said, those razor sharp teeth have gotten me more times than I'd like to admit. 🩹 #agave #spines #succulents #gardeningfeed

An agave horrida (Spanish for horrible) has evenly spaced large, lime green leaves. The leaves have large, white razor sharp teeth on the margins with long spines at the tips. It's in a bed of dark bark chips. It's about two ft. tall and wide.

A 10 ft. flower stalk emerging from an agave looks otherworldly in bright sunlight. It is about 6-8 inches wide and has a shiny dark brown outer skin. There are several stem sections with unfurling leaves and smaller flower stalks.

A large mature agave (possibly sp. potatorum) set in a lush dry garden. It's in dappled sunlight with a large inflorescence growing straight up from the center. Agaves are monocarpic and die after this single, extended flowering process is completed.
