I promenaded for over half a mile this morning! Granted it was pouring with rain and Dartmoor was swathed in mist so it was not an elegant Edwardian stroll such as this early #1900s dress might have experienced but the new hip was fantastic! @metmuseum.org #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

The house of Doucet was renowned for its lingerie dresses, creamy lace and gauzy fabrics caught in velvet bows. This early #1900s gown is redolent of hazy summer afternoons and scent laden gardens @metmuseum.org #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡
The front of a floral lacy dress with high collar and long skirt. It is an Edwardian summer dress with gauzy blue printed flowers and a turquoise velvet trim
Back view of the early 1900s summer dress with blue printed flowers and lace ruffles trimming bodice and skirt. At the back there is a long trailing waist sash in turquoise velvet

I haven’t shared Doucet’e early #1900s bee dress in a while and it is perfect bee weather so here it is. The white background highlights the unusual embroidery darting about the surface of the gown, each striped insect alighting on different parts of the dress #madparis #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡
Front view of a white dress with lace trim at the bottom of the skirt and cuffs. Black and gold embroidered bees cover the skirt and fly upwards in an asymmetrical pattern across the bodice
Back view of the white dress showing the lace trim and black and gold embroidered bees running around the hem and back of the neck
