Very impressive Q2 acceleration at Unilever to +5.8%. Volume +5.5% best in 10+ years. Ex-food, +8%. Terrific emerging markets led by India, Indonesia. Only Europe sluggish. Great read on global consumer resilience. P&G will likely trail $UL by big margin. $PG $CL $KO $XLP $XLY $MKC

Notable that this move is on extremely good earnings news. Volumes for both $KO and $UL were excellent.

And P&G underwhelms. Beauty improved but everything else went backward. Gap on home care at 900bp vs $UL, widest I can recall. $PG volume flat vs growth at 15 year-highs for $UL. Lower EM exposure only partly to blame. $XLP $WMT $XLY $CL $LRLCY $EL $KO

Incidentally after early hiccup, results from wide swathe of staples (Pepsi, Coke, Unilever, Bud etc) suggest after hiccup in early 25, Lat Am has reverted to being treasure island. Most back to pricing well above inflation while decrying macros. $XLP $KO $PEP $UL $BUD $PM

Unilever out-performing P&G by wide margin (4 points) & with +4% point forward sales guide despite being widely considered far inferior. Not just greater EM exposure - $UL doing far better in US. $PG legacy of aggressive premium-isation likely hurting. $CL $LRLCY $XLP

Yes beauty is blessed but L'Oreal paints a picture of remarkable global consumer resilience. US strong, China back to mid/high single digit growth (luxe hsd) despite messed up duty, EMs up double digit. Even Europe dynamic at +5.5%. $LRLCY $EL $XLP $PG $UL $XLP $XLY $LVMUY

Strong results at L'Oreal with sales accelerating 70bp vs Q4 to +6.7%, driven by professional products (another sign discretionary stuff like salons isn't too shabby!) & by luxury. $LRLCY is outperforming industry but clearly beauty is among top performers. $EL $PG $UL $XLP $XLY
