How to improve Halifax traffic, provincial government edition:
1) Incentivize more drivers to go through two ridiculous bottlenecks to cram more cars onto the Peninsula.
2) Gaze in astonishment when you make things WORSE.
3) Blame bike lanes because you're angry that cyclists keep passing you.

Missoula, Montana has just:
- Eliminated single family zoning
- Eliminated parking requirements citywide
- Allows 100-125' of height in many of its mixed-use zones with no limits on density or FAR

Have they thought of how this will impact tourists using such services? Imagine going to any European capital, looking to zoom about a few galleries and getting pulled over and berated by the cops because you forgot to whip your helmet out of your pocket. It’s pure gombeen car brain anti-urbanism.

This morning, my commute by bike took me 26mins 30secs door to door. Driving to the nearest car park would take 26 mins, plus another 5 mins of walking on top of that.
Riding to work isn't just cheaper and more healthy, it's also quicker. We just need to make it safer and more will choose it.

SO glad the province is focused on evidence based schemes to reduce congestion, like turning bus lanes into HOV lanes, removing tolls, and discouraging biking.

The administration plans to stop large cities receiving federal funds from providing free bus transit.
That would hit programs across the US + pose a setback to a signature pledge by #NYC mayor Zohran Mamdani.
One might *almost* think the GOP is contemptuous of working-class public transit users.

Great way to push people away from cycling.
We live in a country where the goverment refuse to lower speed limits to 30km/hour and instead want to dress everyone in hi viz so motorists can drive like they want and the gov can cut funding to cycling infrastructure. Pathetic.

I have thought of this quote a lot and shared it with lots of people. Helped me point out how car brained we have been guided to be: we have assumed it is a right to have a car wherever we want and gov should help us store it? Wrong. City spaces are meant for people not cars :)

It's not just that helmets and hi-vis won't by themselves make e-bike and e-scooter users safer: bumping this up to the top of the priority list also sucks up bandwidth from more important transport priorities like red light cameras, BusConnects rollout, demand management, etc
