This is a pretty strange and uncalled-for reaction to someone making a valid point about that seasonal forecast! A statistical model, as described in Kozar et al. 2012 and used in the UPenn forecast, will tend to struggle when provided with data outside of its training dataset (I.E. extrapolation).

Another big-time Alabama weather anniversary today— 11 years since the huge Gulf Coast flash flood. Mobile got almost a foot of rain, parts of NW FL saw two feet of rain.
I snapped this pic from my dorm at South Alabama. It's still the heaviest rain I've ever seen.

I ended up with 43.4mm total rainfall... pretty much average for the Maritimes. The lowest amounts were in the middle of the region; with 50's & 60's over SW NB & SW NS then along the Atlantic coast. The highest @CoCoRaHS volunteer was in Baddeck Forks CB with a respectable 85.9mm.

Extraordinarily complex forecast across the upper Midwest today. From a synoptic perspective, the ingredients are certainly in place for widespread severe weather. A deep surface low <996 hPa is centered across E ND, coupled with an expansive plume of high quality moisture + some backed sfc winds.
