A Nor'easter will create hazardous marine and coastal conditions along the Mid-Atlantic coast through mid-week, with significant coastal flooding and beach erosion possible. Keep up with the latest at weather.gov.
Key Messages:Nor’easter Impacts Will Continue This Week: A non-tropical low pressure system well off the North Carolina coast will slowly track north this week and may gain some subtropical characteristics. Regardless of the exact classification, the system will continue to bring long-duration coastal impacts to portions of the Mid-Atlantic. Coastal Flooding and Beach Erosion: Persistent and strong onshore winds will result in coastal flooding, dangerous marine conditions and beach erosion, especially at high tide cycles, from southern New Jersey through the North Carolina coast. Strong Wind Gusts: The storm is likely to bring wind gusts in excess of 40 mph along immediate coastal areas, especially across the Outer Banks region. Prepare for Potential Impacts: Exact details on magnitude and location of impacts are still evolving. Check weather.gov regularly for updates. Maps Overview:Max Forecast Coastal Flood Through Thursday: Map showing official forecast points along the Mid-Atlantic coast (NJ to NC) with locations highlighting Major Flood (purple), Moderate Flood (red), and Minor Flood (yellow). Max Forecast Wind Gust Through Wednesday: Map depicting peak wind gusts along the East Coast, showing offshore and coastal areas receiving 30 to 60+ MPH wind gusts (yellow, orange, red).

FYI I’ll be off air until Thursday while at the NWA meeting in Omaha. A big thanks to Mother Nature for keeping Colorado weather mostly quiet (minus SW Colorado mid-late week) while I’m away

Great discussion from NWS Boulder’s Paul Schlatter and Xcel Energy’s Zach Tolby at the National Weather Association annual meeting a bout Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) Red Flag Warnings. Great coordination between them on communication and how to forecast/where to implement power shutoffs.
