Only crows know how to give you a sarcastic look ๐Ÿชถ #corvid #cawmunity #crow
A crow stood on a bridge with its head cocked to one side looking at the photographer (me). It's as if the crow is saying 'I believe you but thousands wouldn't'

A cawing crow looking quite demonic with its eyes covered by the nictitating membrane. The crow has puffed its body out and it stretched out looking skywards

When I tell you this Red-shouldered Hawk yesterday was at EYE LEVEL... ๐Ÿ˜‚ #birds
Photo of a hawk flying right at me above a snow-covered wooden rail fence with a blurry black car driving past directly behind it. Only the tips of the hawk's upturned wings are higher than the car roof.

Who's this? While out on the porch I noticed a bird bigger than the Phoebe I'd just noticed in the distant tree next to this one. By the time the camera was aimed a headfirst dive was what I caught. The Merlin app says Kestrel... ๐Ÿชถ
An upside down bird is diving from the branch just out of view, heading behind a pine tree.

Good feature to differentiate female Red-throated (A. rhodolaemus) from Brown-throated Sunbird (A. malacensis): Red-throated (left) has better defined โ€˜eyelid-rimsโ€™ (lower large); Brown-throated (right) has broader, diffuse eye-ring. #BirdsSeenIn2025 #Sabah #Malaysia @birdsoftheworld.bsky.social

Take a few seconds to enjoy the beautiful rainforest sounds of the Hacking River Valley and a Superb Lyrebird as he forages. He's ably assisted by a Yellow-throated Scrubwren who are comensal to lyrebirds and are also excellent mimics. #birds #birding #nature #naturelovers #lyrebirds

Then the Red-tailed Hawks from my previous post followed me home - right above my house. Incidentally... my friend Jen and I were just talking about them... then they turned up squawking very loudly just a few minutes later. #birds #parkdale #redtailedhawk

Northern mockingbird all ruffled up. One of my favorite photos I've taken! #birdoftheday #smallbirdbigpersonality ๐Ÿชถ
A northern mockingbird perches on the back of a parking lot sign, looking off to the right. Its feathers are puffed out, making it look very round.

Voice of an ominous cult leader obsessed about the end of days: On the threshold of our sanctuary, the Mourning Dove feasts, watching, a silent harbinger for those who sense the arrival of the dusk that will swallow the old world whole. #birds
This image shows a close-up of a small brown bird, likely a mourning dove, perched on the edge of a bird feeder. The bird feeder is filled with black sunflower seeds and features a water reservoir on the left. The bird has a rounded body, a small head, and a dark eye. The background shows the exterior of a house with white walls, black trim, large windows, and neatly trimmed bushes. The overall scene is bright and appears to be outdoors during daytime.

I was pretty busy printing and framing some photos for an upcoming group show at @gallery1313. But I did manage to go to the end of the alley and back. Of course... there were the resident pair of Red-tailed Hawks. #birds #parkdale #redtailedhawk

One of the more famous Australian birds.. the Magpie (Gymnorhina tibicen). It is like a small, black & white crow, but it is not related to the corvids at all. It is more closely related to the woodswallows and butcherbirds. Ubiquitous in Oz. #BirdingAustralia #BirdingMelbourne #magpies
