I've only played a few hours of the much-hyped Crimson Desert, so weight my opinion accordingly, but those few hours were so boring and soulless that I absolutely did not want to play anymore. Feels like a game designed for people who just want to Consume Content.
I think this video does a good job explaining the viewpoints of the team but I wanted to make sure it was clear that I wasn't feeling up to participate yet thus not in the video. I will share my own thoughts soon but my opinions largely mirror what Alex says in this video! Check it out...
leon running into ada in RE4 is so funny in hindsight. imagine you used to be like the lamest guy alive but you became a special forces soldier, accidentally got into a violent yaoi rivalry, started doing secret service james bond shit and then you run into the bad bitch you fumbled after college
'Resident Evil' director on who Leon S. Kennedy is married to: "The answer will become clear some day, but not just yet. What we wanted to convey in the final scene is simple: Leon now has a 'place to go home to', and we hope you can imagine the peaceful moments he spends there" (via eurogamer)
Here are my thoughts on DLSS 5 - the ethical problem with it (I do not enumerate all issues in the video), the visual issues with it (not all enumerated, once again), how I struggle with it conceptually vs. other types of neural rendering and muvh more. youtu.be/5dTTfjBAFzc
you ever fantasize about telling off somebody who absolutely doesn’t care that they hurt your feelings many years ago except of course in the fantasy they do care & apologize and also a magic judge shows up and bangs a gavel and says a jury of your peers has taken your side in the matter? me either
I had to take my mother to the hospital for a quick procedure and then drive her home cause she was all zonked out on meds. As we’re leaving she says “is that one of those little robots?” The nurse and I look at each other. “He’s so cute” Then I see what she’s pointing at.
Charlie Cox confirms he will be starring in another video game 🎮 “I loved being part of 'Expedition 33' ... I was blown away by the success it had ... I’m gonna do another game this year, which is gonna be much more involved for me, much more work" (via Agents Fandom)
Watching the Digital Foundry follow up on the DLSS stuff, and it’s weird that 2/3 of the hosts seem to think it… looks… good? I’m genuinely starting to wonder if this is like coriander tasting like soap to some people. Am I just unfortunately genetically predisposed to find AI generated art ugly?
Capcom spends an insane amount of time on R&D making engines that ensure their games look the best in the world, them pivoting to AI would be a massive misstep and destroy huge advantages they currently have. The same people who spent ages refining Leon to be hot as fuck don't want to yassify him.
Yasushi Nirasawa - one of the GOATs of monster design! So many of his monsters are cool head-to-toe, but he could also turn silly ideas, like this watermelon monster, into solid gold with inventive thematic design and asymmetry. Even common decorations like skulls could feel new in his hands.
I remember in pre-internet days, rumors about games would always float around. Most were made up, BUT. A kid at school told me about a hidden Hadouken from Street Fighter II in Mega Man X and how to get it. Can't be true, right?! Still, I just HAD to know. And I'll NEVER forget the day I found it.
