Keep thinking about this term "pre-digested" that Kojima used to describe art that's instantly gratifying. And how it's better when people grow to love something instead. I've gravitated, as player and designer, toward the latter, but that term "pre-digested" is new and feels very strong.
the good news is that the media attention and support from an audience has helped Horses do well enough that Santa Ragione has been able to pay all its owed royalties and loans. so it's not in debt. the bad news is it's still not enough to keep the studio together. www.ign.com/articles/hor...
Estranged Parent subculture rules it's like "we are united by the fact that our children will not talk to us" which means it's going to largely self-select for the most insufferable people, so insufferable in fact that their own children have stopped speaking to them.
it makes me sad to think about people talking to chatGPT like it's their best friend. why can't they just form parasocial attachments to video essayists and podcasters like i do? this sounds like i'm telling a joke except i actually do think that what i do is healthier lol i have no evidence though
I was wrestling with this all of yesterday based on a producers comments from July + the Larian stuff. It's all about as clear as mud and I'm exhausted. What has become clear is that unless I'm inside a studio or someones a big dramatic proponent I won't really know one way or another and it's shit
This is the movie I’ve been working on for the last 12 months!!! Jack joined around August - I originally offered him a part but he didn’t feel he was right for it, but liked the script enough that he… decided to produce instead. Genuinely a dream of an EP - he just wants to make GOOD ART.

BREAKING: Emperor Gestahl's court mage Kefka ranted and raved about the state of the Gestahlian Empire in a deranged press conference "ONE YEAR AGO THE EMPIRE WAS DEAD. TOTALLY ANNIHILATED. NOW WE ARE HOT. THE HOTTEST WE'VE EVER BEEN. PRICES ARE WAY DOWN ALL THANKS TO ME ERADICATING ALL THE DOMANS"
It's reached a fucking bizarre situation where the only way to even attempt to have a kind of moral stance is to play games on day of release as fast as possible before the dirt comes out or so long after release you got it for 4 bucks on sale 5 years after it's relevant.
(Official) Mega Man Star Force Episode 01 - Omega-Xis: The Fugitive www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNPx... "To commemorate the release date announcement of "Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection", the English version of the "Mega Man Star Force" anime will be available for a limited time!"
I've seen some takes suggesting that this was all a marketing stunt and this would not have sold nearly this well if it was on Steam sans controversy. Look, discoverability is fucked, true, but the idea that a dev would forego Steam and Epic on a lark is a ridiculous take.
The West made this argument after Iran nationalized its oil. Even worse, the US south made this argument after abolition. They said they "created" US wealth through slavery and that abolition was the "tyrannical expropriation" of legally acquired wealth and property. That's who they are.
A decade on from Gamergate, how has the games industry changed for women? Some of gaming's most influential women share their experiences. (An honour to be quoted alongside such wonderfully talented women) Games Industry . Biz www.gamesindustry.biz/a-decade-on-...

That's kind of my point. We don't even known what the situation with the AI is with the game *now*. Next time around I imagine they'd either make sure not to use it at any point, or hide it better, both of which you won't know, as long as a producer or someone doesn't tell us.
A "98% complete" version of the cancelled Game Boy Color Resident Evil port has been shared online. The newly preserved build, made right as the game was cancelled, may finally let players play through the port in its entirety and reach the ending. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/a-98-co...
SCOOP: James Ohlen is stepping down as studio head of Archetype Entertainment, developer of the ambitious (and much-delayed) sci-fi RPG Exodus. At the same time, Wizards of the Coast is bringing in a new exec, Paul Della Bitta, to oversee its video-game division www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
thinking again on how one thing about industries lobbying and shopping themselves around isn't just outright bribes, it's also 'they get to have in person meetings with the people in charge and you don't'. and they're all just going 'wow!' to whatever bullshit vaporware promises they're being told
Think of how many TV shows they could have funded with that money, and not only that but also how much more revenue all those shows would brought in for the company. But instead they just gave it to the worst employee of the entire corporation. The literal reason the company is being bought out.
btw i did find a (barely) 1st Ed. reference to clerics being able to cast Dimension Door. it's in Greyhawk Adventures and priests of Celestian gain it at 11th level. ofc this was printed in '88 as, like FR Adventures, it was a 1st > 2nd Ed. transition book, so the Duffers must still face my wrath.

I have the benefit of having two personal libraries of TTRPGs as well as the Obsidian TTRPG library but almost all of this stuff is available on .pdf online. I think the tricky thing is that you do have to know where to look in the texts and a lot of that comes from personal experience.
