Spent a good chunk of time today getting the FM77AV version of Space Harrier to load properly in MAME. I need to figure out the best way to run Atari ST games, that's another Space Harrier I haven't seen before. MiSTer core hasn't been touched in awhile, but I bet it'd be solid enough for this.
death stranding 2 introducing the concept of stillmother syndrome, where women are pregnant for an indeterminate amount of time (YEARS???), and for the women in the game to react with, at best, a thought of "oh well i hope my baby's ok" is so funny. bro thats the horror movie disease
the mushroom murder trial coverage has felt extremely off to me from day 1. like the media was REALLY pushing it, with the true crime podcast market in their crosshairs, elevating it to national megastory when i dont know if i ever saw or heard someone talking about it irl, even at the office
i get why people are worried about the new king of the hill season in the context of “how will they represent how times have changed” etc but you all gotta remember this show had to very literally get through 9/11 in its original run and managed to do so in a very reflective way imo
Sean Gunn on MAGA backlash to #Superman being called an immigrant "We love our immigrants ... If you don't like that ... then you're not American" "People who say no to immigrants are against the American Way, they're against what the American Dream is all about" (via Variety)
I definitely remember my SAT scores with pride, but that may be because I was a homeless orphan at the time and paid to take it out of my own pocket by skipping meals for two days, and I told a teacher I hadn't given up on me even if they had. What I'm saying is we all have different perspectives.
As GDC talk applications have opened, I want to politely remind you that GDC remains one of the most inaccessible, unfairly expensive, and dangerous for-profit game industry events out there - and that offering your labour for free to it just adds value that pressures people into going needlessly.
A friend told me he didn't have any D&D dice for the game we were starting up, and I was like, I may have a set or two to loan you until you figure out what's right for your hero, and I went to my gaming hutch and pulled out 11 full sets of D&D dice that I bought in the past for emergencies.
One thing that took me time to learn is how to recognize that feeling in the pit of my stomach when I've debated with someone and no longer care to continue. When I was younger I'd sometimes push through it, but there are no trophies here and rarely any chance of salvaging them. They can win. 🤷♂️
Finally submitted the giant lore doc that I’d been working on for @layersdeep.bsky.social to the rest of the team this morning. It started out as 31 scrappy pages in a notebook, featuring terrible maps (that will never be in the game lol) just so that I could map out game events in a logical way.
Microsoft told @Chris_Dring profitability of Game Pass does not factor in first-party game development costs. What is included in Game Pass profitability? The cost of getting 3rd Party games on the service, marketing and keeping Game Pass operational. www.thegamer.com/xbox-game-pa...
