Today, I spoke with Kilmar Abrego Garcia and his wife, Jennifer. In April, when I met with him in El Salvador, Trump said he would never set foot in the U.S. again. This case has never been about one man alone; if the govt can violate the constitutional rights of one, all our rights are threatened.
I’m heartbroken by the news of a horrific mass shooting at Brown University and sending love and prayers for the victims, their families, and the entire Providence community. We must act now to end this painful epidemic of gun violence. Our children should be safe at school.
This is a horrific act of antisemitism during a time meant for light & celebration. My heart breaks for the Bondi Beach community & my thoughts are with all those who lost loved ones & the entire Jewish community as we condemn this evil. Antisemitism has no place in our world.
I’m heartbroken & furious about the senseless shooting at Brown that has taken lives and critically injured others. My thoughts & prayers are with the victims, their families, & the entire Brown community as they navigate this trauma. No one should fear for their life at school. Congress must act.
I am monitoring the shooting at Brown University and in touch with law enforcement. If you are in danger call 911. If you are in the area please stay inside and allow law enforcement to do their work. Anyone with information, please contact the Providence Police Department.
I’m filled with sorrow and rage after learning that two students were killed at Brown University and others are fighting for their lives. Gun violence touches everyone. This is NOT the price of freedom. I’ll keep fighting for sensible gun laws, because we all deserve better.
The Trump admin is again attempting to dismantle legal protections for migrant children that jeopardize their health. These same protections were designed to prevent what we’re seeing: hundreds of kids held alone in inhumane conditions for prolonged periods. This is a new low, even for Noem’s DHS.
I’m relieved to hear the suspect has been captured after last night’s horrific shooting at Brown University. This is a trauma no community should ever have to endure, and my community of Parkland knows all too well that an arrest does not erase the pain or bring back the lives that were taken.
This investigation is yet another baseless attempt by Trump to undermine Boston’s success. In Boston, we are committed to working towards safe, affordable housing for all residents. I don’t expect the most lawless & corrupt President of our time to get that.
Antisemitism turned a beautiful community celebration of Hanukkah at Bondi Beach into a nightmare. My thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, and the people of Australia. Antisemitism is a global crisis — and we need to work together to end it.
It’s been 13 years since the lives of 20 first-graders were taken at Sandy Hook. Yet Republicans still refuse to pass the commonsense gun safety laws that would keep other families from living this nightmare. Our kids cannot continue suffering from their inaction. We must keep the pressure on.
The hero who put a stop to the massacre of Jews in Australia is Muslim. In a world with so much deep division based on religion — including tragically between Jews & Muslims — this action gives me hope. We’re all human beings, whatever God we worship. Thank you, Ahmed al-Ahmad.
I’m heartbroken by the horrific attacks this weekend at Brown University and at a Hanukkah event in Bondi Beach, Australia. Two cities, half a world apart, have been shattered by senseless acts of violence that have stolen lives, left families reeling, and devastated entire communities. (1/2)
I’m so devastated for the students, teachers, and faculty at Brown University, some of whom have now personally experienced TWO school shootings. Let’s not waste time with all the political back and forth nonsense — we need to actually do something to prevent the next shooting.
I’m heartbroken to see another college campus torn apart by violence, and I’m thinking of victims and their families in Providence. But we need more than thoughts & prayers — students shouldn’t fear horrific mass shootings. We can and must act on gun safety legislation.
Whether it’s behind the scenes in the Capitol or out and about in the community—we love our work! Taking a moment today to thank everyone in the community who makes our work possible. And, sharing a few behind the scenes photos from the last few weeks! Thank you! 🙏❤️
I am devastated by the news of a mass shooting at Brown University. Praying for the victims, their families, students, faculty, and the entire Rhode Island community as we await more information. Gun violence should never be accepted as normal. www.cnn.com/us/live-news...
With it's dependence on anonymity, multiple tools to destroy transaction paper trails and built in conflicts of interest between brokers, dealers, issuers and exchanges, crypto is perfectly designed for financial fraud. And yet, under Trump, the sheriff has left town.
The Senate GOP had a simple choice: protect affordable health care or manufacture a crisis & yank it away from millions of Americans. They chose the crisis. As families and small business owners re-enroll & see their bills jump next year, they’ll know exactly who decided to double their premiums.
My office has statutory authority to intervene on behalf of ratepayers and I’m sounding the alarm about DTE’s questionable proposal for a 1.4 gigawatt data center. Michiganders shouldn’t be left wondering if our energy bills will go up to pay for this. We deserve transparency.
For almost 50 years, the Presidential Management Fellowship Program (PMF) has recruited thousands of leaders to the federal civil service to serve this country. But, that changed when Trump tried to unilaterally terminate the program earlier this year.
Republicans, time and time again, are voting for policies that will hurt their constituents — whether it’s slashing Medicaid or refusing to extend the ACA subsidies. It’s time for my colleagues across the aisle to grow a spine and stand up for the American people.
I’m devastated the epidemic of gun violence has shattered yet another community. This shooting at Brown University came before another tragic anniversary- as 13 years ago, 26 innocent lives were stolen from us at Sandy Hook Elementary School. (1/2)
We can’t go on like this. Violent antisemitism has become the norm. Jews celebrating Hanukkah were murdered simply because they were Jews. Too many have ignored this threat for too long. We must fight back in Congress, our communities, & anywhere hate exists. And it will take all of us, together.
Woke up with a heavy heart thinking about the Brown shooting & remembering today is the 13 year anniversary of #SandyHook. We owe it to every child & their families to keep pressing for real progress. Together, we can make a difference & help prevent future mass-shootings.
At least eleven Jews were murdered in an antisemitic terrorist attack against the Jewish community in Australia on the first night of Hanukkah. Terror and violence against Jews are part of a global surge in antisemitism fueled by an ever-escalating campaign of demonization and dehumanization.
As 2,000 Jews celebrated the first night of Hanukkah in Australia, terrorists targeted them, massacring 11. We mourn the dead. It’s the latest attack on Jews. Violence is the inevitable result of the endless demonization & targeting of Jews & Jewish institutions we see globally. It must stop.
Thirteen years ago, 20 children and six educators were killed in a horrific shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary. Our students deserve to grow up and go to school without fear. I will keep fighting for policies that keep our communities safe from acts of senseless gun violence.
Absolutely devastated by the news of a mass shooting at Brown University. My heart breaks for every single person impacted by this tragedy. It is unacceptable we keep finding ourselves here as a country. We have the power to end this horrific cycle of gun violence and must act.
Honored to join Mixteca Organization for their annual Posada, a holiday celebration of faith, culture, and the diversity of our Brooklyn communities. Orgs like Mixteca are the glue that connects our immigrant neighbors to vital resources. I am proud to stand with them.
13 years ago, we lost 26 precious lives at Sandy Hook Elementary School. These senseless tragedies should never have become routine. As a parent, I refuse to stay silent while children are at risk. I'll keep working to pass commonsense gun safety legislation and protect our communities.
FEMA helps Americans in their darkest hour. The agency isn’t perfect — and its job is only getting harder — but the solution is to build the agency up, not tear it down. Congress needs to pass our bipartisan FEMA Act to give communities the disaster response system they deserve.
Brown killings and Australian slaughter of Jews. Too many guns in the hands of disturbed people. This violence must be dealt with with and not just in the courts but in our legislatures. Gun permits, not permitless carry and mental health background checks for a permit and for purchases.
Jewish families deserve to feel safe and be safe in every corner of our world. My heart goes out to the victims of the devastating terrorist attack in Sydney, and the entire Jewish community in this moment of terrible grief. Antisemitism and hate are evils upon our world — they must be defeated.
I'm horrified by last night's mass shooting at Brown University—yet another community scarred by gun violence. May the memories of those lost be for a blessing. Over and over, firearms threaten the safety of Americans. Commonsense gun reforms cannot wait.
My prayers are with the Brown University community, tonight. Americans should not have to accept this horrible, heartbreaking violence as an inevitability in their nation. Gun violence exists only because those in power allow it to. When will they wake up and end the tragedies?
The antisemitic terrorist attack at a Sydney Hanukkah festival is appalling. Jews should feel safe to practice their faith without any fear of violence. May the memories of those lost be a blessing. And as Jewish communities light the Hanukkah candles tonight, may we all find light in the darkness.
Today I visited parts of Snohomish County impacted by recent flooding with Snohomish Reg. Fire & was briefed by FEMA to see how the atmospheric river has devastated communities across WA. Grateful for our first responders. I’ll keep pushing to get families the federal support they need to recover.
I’m keeping Brown students, faculty, staff, and families close to my heart during this horrific tragedy, so close to the holiday season. No parent should have to fear for their kid’s safety at school — or anywhere. We cannot normalize this, and we cannot continue to do nothing.
Heartbroken and horrified by the shooting at Brown University. Gun violence has no place in our schools or our society. I’m praying for the entire community, but prayers aren’t enough. It’s long past time the government acted on compressive gun control reform.
