My prayers are with the Jewish community worldwide as we mourn the victims of the antisemitic terror attack in Australia. As families mark the start of Hanukkah, no one should have to fear violence for their faith. We must call out antisemitism & stop hate.
This man showed amazing courage. He is an inspiration to all who believe that our communities can live in peace. He is worthy of the āRighteous Among the Nationsā award established by Yad Vashem. #RighteousAmongTheNations www.bbc.com/news/article...
This was my message yesterday while the sun was still shining: some of the toughest days are still ahead for Washington state. Listen to local officials, stay alert. But know that everyone is stepping up to help their neighbors, and we'll get through this together.
My prayers are with the victims and loved ones of the horrific antisemitic attack in Australia. I stand in solidarity with the Jewish community in Australia and around the world on the first night of Hanukkah. We must all stand firmly together against hate in every form.
The UAE is funneling weapons into Sudanās brutal civil war ā yet the Trump administration went around Congress to sell $1.4 billion in helicopters and fighter jets to the country. We cannot continue indirectly contributing to this genocide. These arms sales must end.
Iām outraged and heartbroken by the shooting at Brown. Iām praying for all those impacted. Itās long past time to act to save lives. No one should fear going to school, the grocery store, or the movie theater. Congressional inaction to prevent gun violence is unconscionable.
This week, Myanmarās military junta bombed a hospital killing over 30 people ā continuing a pattern of attacking its own people. Last week, I led my colleagues in calling on Secretary Rubio to use our influence to help end the violence & ensure accountability for these atrocities. We must act.
As families begin the celebration of Hanukkah, we must acknowledge that the joy of this season is weighted by much sorrow. Wishing a chag sameach to Jews around the world. May the light of Hanukkah strengthen all of us in the enduring fight against antisemitism.
What should have been a joyful Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach was turned into a massacre by antisemitic hate. Fifteen lives, including a child, were stolen by violence fueled by bigotry. Antisemitism and hate are deadlyāand we must confront and defeat both everywhere.
Absolutely devastated by the news of a mass shooting at Brown University. My heart breaks for every single person impacted by this tragedy. It is unacceptable we keep finding ourselves here as a country. We have the power to end this horrific cycle of gun violence and must act.
Heartbroken and horrified by the shooting at Brown University. Gun violence has no place in our schools or our society. Iām praying for the entire community, but prayers arenāt enough. Itās long past time the government acted on compressive gun control reform.
13 years ago, we lost 26 precious lives at Sandy Hook Elementary School. These senseless tragedies should never have become routine. As a parent, I refuse to stay silent while children are at risk. I'll keep working to pass commonsense gun safety legislation and protect our communities.
Iām keeping Brown students, faculty, staff, and families close to my heart during this horrific tragedy, so close to the holiday season. No parent should have to fear for their kidās safety at school ā or anywhere. We cannot normalize this, and we cannot continue to do nothing.
For almost 50 years, the Presidential Management Fellowship Program (PMF) has recruited thousands of leaders to the federal civil service to serve this country. But, that changed when Trump tried to unilaterally terminate the program earlier this year.
Thirteen years ago, 20 children and six educators were killed in a horrific shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary. Our students deserve to grow up and go to school without fear. I will keep fighting for policies that keep our communities safe from acts of senseless gun violence.
Republicans, time and time again, are voting for policies that will hurt their constituents ā whether itās slashing Medicaid or refusing to extend the ACA subsidies. Itās time for my colleagues across the aisle to grow a spine and stand up for the American people.
Iām devastated the epidemic of gun violence has shattered yet another community. This shooting at Brown University came before another tragic anniversary- as 13 years ago, 26 innocent lives were stolen from us at Sandy Hook Elementary School. (1/2)
The Senate GOP had a simple choice: protect affordable health care or manufacture a crisis & yank it away from millions of Americans. They chose the crisis. As families and small business owners re-enroll & see their bills jump next year, theyāll know exactly who decided to double their premiums.
What should have been a joyful first night of Hanukkah was shattered by this act of hatred. My heart is with the innocent people who were attacked, and the entire Jewish community mourning today. Antisemitism has no place in our world. www.nytimes.com/live/2025/12...
The hero who put a stop to the massacre of Jews in Australia is Muslim. In a world with so much deep division based on religion ā including tragically between Jews & Muslims ā this action gives me hope. Weāre all human beings, whatever God we worship. Thank you, Ahmed al-Ahmad.
At least eleven Jews were murdered in an antisemitic terrorist attack against the Jewish community in Australia on the first night of Hanukkah. Terror and violence against Jews are part of a global surge in antisemitism fueled by an ever-escalating campaign of demonization and dehumanization.
Antisemitism turned a beautiful community celebration of Hanukkah at Bondi Beach into a nightmare. My thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, and the people of Australia. Antisemitism is a global crisis ā and we need to work together to end it.
As 2,000 Jews celebrated the first night of Hanukkah in Australia, terrorists targeted them, massacring 11. We mourn the dead. Itās the latest attack on Jews. Violence is the inevitable result of the endless demonization & targeting of Jews & Jewish institutions we see globally. It must stop.
Itās been 13 years since the lives of 20 first-graders were taken at Sandy Hook. Ā āØYet Republicans still refuse to pass the commonsense gun safety laws that would keep other families from living this nightmare. Ā āØOur kids cannot continue suffering from their inaction. We must keep the pressure on.
Another heinous gun violence attack at @brownupolisci.bsky.social. Students should be focused on studying for finals, and not worried about an active shooter on campus. Sending my deep condolences to the victims and their families. www.cnn.com/us/live-news...
Iām relieved to hear the suspect has been captured after last nightās horrific shooting at Brown University. This is a trauma no community should ever have to endure, and my community of Parkland knows all too well that an arrest does not erase the pain or bring back the lives that were taken.
Iām so devastated for the students, teachers, and faculty at Brown University, some of whom have now personally experienced TWO school shootings. Letās not waste time with all the political back and forth nonsense ā we need to actually do something to prevent the next shooting.
The antisemitic terrorist attack at a Sydney Hanukkah festival is appalling. Jews should feel safe to practice their faith without any fear of violence. May the memories of those lost be a blessing. And as Jewish communities light the Hanukkah candles tonight, may we all find light in the darkness.
This is a horrific act of antisemitism during a time meant for light & celebration. My heart breaks for the Bondi Beach community & my thoughts are with all those who lost loved ones & the entire Jewish community as we condemn this evil. Antisemitism has no place in our world.
Iām heartbroken by the horrific attacks this weekend at Brown University and at a Hanukkah event in Bondi Beach, Australia. Two cities, half a world apart, have been shattered by senseless acts of violence that have stolen lives, left families reeling, and devastated entire communities. (1/2)
Iām heartbroken to see another college campus torn apart by violence, and Iām thinking of victims and their families in Providence. But we need more than thoughts & prayers ā students shouldnāt fear horrific mass shootings. We can and must act on gun safety legislation.
We canāt go on like this. Violent antisemitism has become the norm. Jews celebrating Hanukkah were murdered simply because they were Jews. Too many have ignored this threat for too long. We must fight back in Congress, our communities, & anywhere hate exists. And it will take all of us, together.
Iām filled with sorrow and rage after learning that two students were killed at Brown University and others are fighting for their lives. Gun violence touches everyone. This is NOT the price of freedom. Iāll keep fighting for sensible gun laws, because we all deserve better.
With it's dependence on anonymity, multiple tools to destroy transaction paper trails and built in conflicts of interest between brokers, dealers, issuers and exchanges, crypto is perfectly designed for financial fraud. And yet, under Trump, the sheriff has left town.
Jewish families deserve to feel safe and be safe in every corner of our world. My heart goes out to the victims of the devastating terrorist attack in Sydney, and the entire Jewish community in this moment of terrible grief. Antisemitism and hate are evils upon our world ā they must be defeated.
I'm horrified by last night's mass shooting at Brown Universityāyet another community scarred by gun violence. May the memories of those lost be for a blessing. Over and over, firearms threaten the safety of Americans. Commonsense gun reforms cannot wait.
Brown killings and Australian slaughter of Jews. Too many guns in the hands of disturbed people. This violence must be dealt with with and not just in the courts but in our legislatures. Gun permits, not permitless carry and mental health background checks for a permit and for purchases.
