“Johnson is trolling me”: Democrats escalate their pressure on House Speaker Mike Johnson to seat Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva as Arizona’s attorney general threatens legal action and Hakeem Jeffries vows swift action. Rep.-elect Grijalva (D-Ariz) joins The Weeknight to speak out.
I kept hoping for a Third Reconstruction; all I got was a lousy t-shirt with Joe Manchin’s face, Sinema stunts, and memories of Joe Biden getting very close to understanding the moment but never rallying Dems with a message and a clearly articulated, once-in-a-lifetime vision to get quite there.
The thing that upsets establishment pols and special interest groups and mega donors about Mamdani is that he has chosen to…and is going to…win without them, without bending the knee to them. Worse for them…and best for NY and Dems generally, is it’s one of the reasons he’s going to win.
“We’re not backing down”: As Republicans escalate their response to tomorrow’s nationwide No Kings protests, @aliciamenendez.bsky.social asks @ezralevin.bsky.social, co-executive director of @indivisible.org, how organizations are preparing for a crackdown that’s already underway.
In Congress, I held Big Oil accountable for oil spills and pollution across CA. As Governor I’ll do the same. Californians deserve a leader who will fight for our right to clean air and water, not bend the knee to polluters. Thanks @caworkingfamilies.bsky.social for a great conversation this week!
Our Afghan allies stood shoulder to shoulder with our troops, risking their lives for our country. Turning our backs on them now would be a betrayal of our values. We must pass my bill, the Fulfilling Promises to Afghan Allies Act, and keep our word. www.washingtonpost.com/investigatio...
Hi Dylan, wow, where to start. I don’t support genocide, never have, I left the Tea Party when it became MAGA. I publicly came out against Trump over 7yrs ago BCUZ I oppose fascism. And I’ve very publicly apologized for all I did to help lead to Trump. You’re wrong. I’ve changed. Thanks. #NoKings.
$5 BILLION is headed out the door to build new job-creating, zero-emission projects, fix roads and bridges, and improve sidewalks and bike lanes across California. We're investing in our communities, our people, and the places we drive, walk, and ride every day.

Donald Trump will keep trying to invade Illinois with troops — and we will keep defending the sovereignty of our state. Militarizing our communities against their will is not only un-American but also leads us down a dangerous path for our democracy. What will come next?
Thanks to Congressional Republicans, a 60-year-old couple making $85,000 a year will pay more than $22,000 EVERY YEAR to keep their health insurance. $22,000. Some families will decide between keeping health insurance or giving it up—and that could be a matter of life or death.
After gutting Medicare and Medicaid to fund tax breaks for the rich, Trump and Republicans are now refusing to stop insurance premiums from skyrocketing. Meanwhile, California will make CalRx insulin available at $11 a pen starting Jan. 1st. We are not the same.
In central MN, some people will see their health insurance premiums more than double if Congressional Republicans refuse to extend the health care tax credit. In St. Cloud, a couple in their 60s could see their monthly premiums increase from less than $800 to almost $2,000.

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, especially in rural communities. If Congressional Republicans refuse to address skyrocketing health care costs, millions of small business owners and employees will see their premiums double. www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/...

The Republicans attacks on the No Kings protests are sickening. To them, only pro-Trump speech is protected. If you oppose Trump - you "hate America" or you're a "terrorist". What they're trying to do is simple: suppress turnout this weekend. Don't let them win.
"Rogan’s audience expects politics from him, and for these stories to pierce the consciousness of regular people who are not as politically involved, they have to start circulating in largely apolitical forums." @adriancarrasquillo.bsky.social for @thebulwark.com: www.thebulwark.com/p/trump-depo...
I understand this, but if state and local police retreat entirely, it helps the Trump Administration make an argument that National Guard is necessary to enforce federal law and protect federal property. This is not to say folks should not hold the governor to account for ensuring proper policing.
Today is Day 17 of the Republican shutdown. Your regular reminders: 1. Republicans control the White House, Senate and House. 2. GOP making deep cuts to Medicaid, Medicare and ACA. 3. Democrats are fighting to lower costs, cancel the cuts and save healthcare for Americans.
