“We have serious problems to solve, and we need serious people to solve them. And whatever your particular problem is, I promise you Bob Rumson is not the least bit interested in solving it. He is interested in two things … making you afraid of it, and telling you who's to blame for it.“
This was an interesting experience -- I searched on the term "fore-edge" of a book, you know, the side opposite the spine, where the edges of the pages are. It told me the fore-edge is the part of the book that traditionally faces outward on the shelf share.google/aimode/RYcGn...
It really says something about the shameful, primal state of male humanity that all it takes for DOZENS *of the world’s most powerful men* to want to flock around an otherwise unremarkable financier is to know that his “brand” is dedicated to facilitating free sexual access to compliant young girls.
A far-right politician whose father was a Nazi will become Chile's next president, having run on anti-crime rhetoric. Whenever a politician says "crime," they are promising violence. It's a protection racket: the more state violence, the more poverty; the more poverty, the more cartel activity.
“… his range was boundless. He directed the horror thriller Misery, the Stephen King adaptation which starred Kathy Bates, who went on to win the Academy Award for Best Actress for the role. His work on his biggest film, 1992’s A Few Good Men, earned a nomination for Best Picture at the Oscars.”
James: I have a new follower who is following you. Me: Oh? James: St. Mary Magdalene? Really??? Someone is actually pretending to be Mary Magdalene???? Me: Do I pretend to be St. John the Baptist? James: Huh? (Looks again) Oh. It’s a church. Yeah, that makes more sense. Reader, I married him.
Over on Twitter, I’ve tagged CBP with this video and a request: “Please @CBP I know you read the tweets of all the journalists on the ground covering you guys. Someone tell the cameraman I desperately want to chat with him next time I'm in New Orleans (or in the next city).”
The fact that Wharton gave him a degree, let him graduate while being THIS ignorant re a basic economic fact is a profound indictment of their institutional integrity. Of course, he's someone who never let anyone teach him anything. Which is why Wharton should NEVER have given him a degree.
I have literally more ideas than I will be able to complete in my lifetime. My problem is not lack of ideas, my problem is lack of infrastructure to make writing a viable career. AI is definitely not helping that problem by sucking up resources and flooding the zone with garbage.
Things’ll probly get too busy for me to post later, cause my husband got groceries today & while he was there he bought a powerball ticket. He says he paid extra to get the winning one. So anyhow it’s been so fun here, but I’m sure being rich will take lots of my time, so have a great holiday! Xo
Every movie, book, murder ballad villain: "Somebody else *made* me do it." Too many decent people, when confronted w/ murderers murdering claiming it's for a good cause: "Somebody else made them do it." Murder=murder=murder. Don't think you're gonna "own" me w/ a "what-about"; murder=murder.
Considering I know many on the far-right personally who even support things like single-payer healthcare.. this is not a winning strategy. Donald Trump calls reporter “dramatic” for saying Americans will suffer if health care prices rise www.lgbtqnation.com/2025/12/dona...
I examined hundreds of assaults on the First Amendment. One thing is clear: the admin has waged an unrelenting assault on free speech & dissent, collaborating w/ the most powerful & wealthy people to weaken our most basic freedoms. Read @freepress.bsky.social: pressingissues.org/the-trump-ad...
while I know you can't do this in Australia or NYC, but Bondi Beach is exactly why i tell people - where possible and while scrupulously following the law - to carry guns to Jewish events, especially public ones. i know that lots of Jews are liberal supporters of strong gun laws, but here we are.
