The conditions at the Mesa Gateway Airport ICE concentration camp are torturous. The severe overcrowding reported by Reps Ansari, Grijalva & Stanton earlier this month were about double the max capacity and people could barely sit down then. These numbers show its reached ~5x over capacity at times.
TOMORROW, Lesley University faculty go ON STRIKE! After 2 years of bargaining, management has still failed to make a fair offer on wages or workload. Kickoff rally and picket: Tues 4/28, 1–5 pm, Lunder Arts Center (1801 Mass Ave, Cambridge). Show up—share this graphic if you can't! 🌹
The issue IS NOT whether the correspondents dinner would be held in the ballroom. What the headline SHOULD say is: “Trump and allies waste money on unnecessary luxury instead of spending on healthcare /education. Ballroom will solve problem, not gun control.” So sick of media ignoring the issue.
Preprint: "We find that although AI assistance improves performance in the short-term, people perform significantly worse without AI and are more likely to give up. Notably, these effects emerge after only brief interactions with AI (∼10 minutes)." arxiv.org/html/2604.04...
Article explaining why it's easy to believe that the thwarted shooting at the WH Correspondents' dinner on Saturday was staged (because everying seems like kayfabe when so much of what we see is) — and why that "staged" belief is almost certain wrong: www.thedailybeast.com/i-get-why-pe...

One wonders what Bari thinks is the point of this half-assed cover-up of Trump's mendacity and incoherence. Everyone already knows that Trump is a shit-thick, bigoted, pathological liar with galloping senile dementia. They either know and don't care or know and can't do anything about it.
On a podcast last week, election denier David Clements said many people he's "talked to are ... national security clearance types" who've "closely worked in conjunction with Tulsi Gabbard & ODNI," & Trump's "messaging seems to be in lockstep with the findings that we've made" about election fraud.
New: President Trump lied on TV about the origins of Unite the Right, feeding his base a narrative that "Southern Law" did it. But the white supremacists who planned UtR still talk about their involvement and the facts aren't up for debate. Me: michaeledisonhayden.substack.com/p/white-supr...
New details emerged about the man DHS agents put into a chokehold on the westside of Chicago last Fall. “They just grabbed a random Black man and caused a commotion, like, it was already bad, but that makes it even worse,” community organizer Maurice Woodard said. thetriibe.com/2026/04/new-...

Many people are talking about a general strike for May Day. How do we shut down the economy in 2026, when it functions much differently than it did in time of the original general strikes? Here, we propose some some starting places for action and offer a handbill promoting them.
No sooner had a gunman tried to storm the ballroom of the Washington Hilton, where the White Correspondents’ Dinner was taking place Saturday night, than social media was awash with conspiracy theories about what was still unfolding in real time. www.cnn.com/2026/04/27/p...
New studies find that Paxlovid no longer reduces hospitalizations or deaths, but that’s good news, because the baseline risk of severe Covid has dropped so much that the drug is now largely unnecessary for most people. insidemedicine.substack.com/p/the-end-of...

The Trump ballroom obsession seems psychological. He's had multiple attempts on his life. It's become harder for him to physically move around. He has to live in a city that hates him, and wants to leave his mark on it. And he thinks people should be forced to come to him, not the other way around.
