I wonder how explicit this will get - how many campaign ads against right-wing ethnonationalist parties in South Asia, South America, Europe, or Africa will end up warning voters about the kind of governance the US is getting if they fail to reject the right
The U.S. Senate and House voted for budgets that steal $880 billion from Medicaid—to give billionaires tax cuts. A friend is part of a group organizing against this. They are asking for calls to Congress. This link makes that easy: win.newmode.net/peoplesactio...
in 2023, the principal of this school resigned in protest of the Archbishop’s transphobic new school policies, and the outgoing priest gave a 🔥🔥🔥 sermon to the kids at graduation using her as an example of standing up to tyrants. this is the first I’ve heard about their successors, and hooooly fuck
Today is Workers Memorial Day, honoring those who have been injured or killed on the job. I wrote this for @proteanmag.com after my granddad died from mesothelioma. He spent 40 years working at a steel mill, breathing in the asbestos that eventually took him from me proteanmag.com/2021/03/23/s...
Three months in, and everyone and everything is the enemy. Immigrants and trans people and DEI and woke and the media and the Democrats and the "radical left" and judges and other countries and sanctuary cities and government employees and science and...capitalists?
"A federal judge filed a preliminary injunction late on Friday that temporarily blocked the Trump administration from removing the bargaining rights of two-thirds of the federal workforce...widely considered retaliation against unions for challenging his power." www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...
No, it’s that drivers have never learned how to make space for pedestrians. Most suburban places have only token sidewalks and illogical/unsafe crosswalks. Unless drivers are in a parking lot, they just assume that nobody is walking. (Speaking as a New Yorker after six months in suburban Richmond)

feels like a really self defeating point like it is literally impossible to do mass deportation in a humane and competent way, this is like saying they would have loved trump to split the atom without releasing energy, the amount of time spent on stupid shit dumb people want is why we are here
Interrupting the flow of cheap consumer goods is genuinely the only real red line that, by my guess, probably a double-digit percentage of Americans have for a Republican administration. The admin is scared of this and they should be, because Amazon gives everyone else permission to do it.
The Pitt (which I like!!) is aggressive about its Trump-era social messaging: each patient represents some pressing current national crisis, be it opioids or gun violence or male loneliness or anti-vaxxers. It's so earnest and didactic that it almost feels like an artifact of the first Trump term.
It’s clear from the social media discourse about #Sinners that A LOT of people need to read this book because a ridiculous number of people think that “passing” means “looks white” and “could be perceived as white” and that is in fact not it lol www.hup.harvard.edu/books/978067...
If student loan forgiveness is your main issue, then you cannot affirmatively vote for the GOP. If you don't trust Democrats on the issue, then you either vote 3rd party or don't vote. But you can't vote for the GOP and say it's because you mainly care about student loan forgiveness.
I think about all the sweet pictures I have of my kid between 3 and 5- dressed up or in parks or museums and how many of these kids will only have photos their parents took to help raise funds in front of rubble for these ages in Gaza. You can’t save the world but you can help these kiddos today ❤️
If you're in NYC on Sunday, some terrific young people are facilitating a walking tour of Greenwich Village as part of Jane's Walk. They were participants in the Youth Public History Institute that I co-facilitated and co-organized in summer 2023. www.mas.org/events/insid... - Sign up!
I’m sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Diana. Diana and her husband Mohammed have two little girls, Hanan, 7 and Sham, 3. They have been displaced numerous times but Mohammed has kept working in a hospital during all of this. They need help with food and renting a small room ❤️
