Pick one hobby that gets you out of your home and talking to people in person. It can be a rec sport, a beer trivia team, or birdwatching, just pick SOMETHING.

Those who are 35+, what advice do you have for people just entering their 30s?

#OTD 10/06/18 #birds #birding #birdsOfMastodon #aBirdAday (or more) Bluebirds in gray pines at Henry Coe Park www.flickr.com/photos/arm…
The attraction at Henry Coe at this time of year is tarantulas. But the skies and the birds were pretty cool.

In the photograph, two bluebirds are sitting in a tree. There's a very fetching cloud-filled sky behind the birds, the tree occupies most of the bottom third of the frame, but the birds, albeit quite small in the scale of things, did get my attention.

First 2 days birding around Gdansk in Poland with @robml1.bsky.social Heavy skies and low light (mostly in woodland) made things tricky, but have had a fantastic time so far. Highlights: Black Woodpecker, Great Grey Shrike, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker & Barn Owl (scarce here).

i was soooo stoked that they had a playdate game speedrun at one of the recent GDQs. a birding game is such a fun idea on its own and using the crank as a way to focus the camera is great too

This Pied-billed Grebe is much less skittish as a group of them stayed behind on the pond after most of the other ducks and geese took off. #birds #birdphotography #photography #nature #wildlife #birding #TRAHR

Birding. Get to know the nature around your house. Be curious about the world around you and don't take each day for granted. Find something that breaks up the frequency online.

Tomorrow’s itinerary: dawn skywatch from Box Hill, walk along ridge of downs to Colley Hill, down to hill base then back along the flat, via River Mole bank, then back up to top of Box Hill. I’m lucky that after 50 years of birding such modest plans find me excited to go and full of hope! #UKBirding

no, see, it's easy: you start from page 56, look for at least 3 "k", then move to the last fifth, look for references to penguins (or other fowl), if none is found just drop the book altogether and onto the next. remember: the book is there to *SERVE YOU*

A lovely thing about the state of Wellington birding is that there's a large predator-free reserve (visitzealandia.com) established a couple of decades ago right in the centre of town. So a bunch of species have recently reappeared on the parliament grounds, especially the kākā (big parrots).

2-hours of your time well spent. Documentary on YouTube of two brothers who decided to have a Big Year, chasing lifer birds across 48 states of the US. Thanks for the recommendation @levparikian.bsky.social.

A few weeks after everyone started sending me the link to Listers and telling me I had to watch it RIGHT NOW, I have at last got round to watching it, and quietly suggest you do too (whether birds are your thing or not). youtu.be/zl-wAqplQAo

For a full hour the male Siberian Thrush was on full view today unheard of for such a shy species. With only a handful of us watching it it was one of the highlights of 38 years of British Birding and one of the reasons I keep coming up here #Shetland2025
