Every Resource type can be asked for basic info like Is Pressed, and Strength, and also optionally things like Horizontal and Vertical flipping. Each Resource can have its own customized dead-zones & tolerances. You can have duplicate configurations for the same Godot Input Action.

Got a LOT of work done on a flexible Input system for #Godot. #gamedev Instead of writing the Input Action name everywhere (good luck if the name changes!), I made Action, Axis, and Vector Resources you can shared around. w/ customizable Analog -> D-Pad conversion & better dead-zones & more.

I saw a video that called MonolithSoft "Your favorite game developer's favorite game developer". I dunno how true that is, but it's a joy to have game devs come out of the woodwork to talk about Xeno games whenever I hyperfixate and post about them.

More small teams are quietly soft launching on itch.io months before the Steam page even goes up, testing pricing and fixing pain points while nobody's watching. By the time the wishlist campaign starts, half the rough edges are already gone. #indiedev #gamedev

Weird Game Designer Facts #72 Derek Yu Yu is best known for SPELUNKY (2008), a Rogue-like platformer. Let's spend a moment to contemplate how nuts that is. Good platformers =depend= on careful level design, with challenges and enemies specifically placed (by designers) to shape the user experience.

And for some weird reason the video game music file players are able to better run the files from that particular set, not so much the incomplete backups location, implies maybe some sort of hidden settings or dependencies are missing in the backups. Freggin computers.

Hi everyone! After three years of solo development, my very first game, the hardcore arena roguelike Samurai Beat Demons, is officially released today on Steam! If you enjoy challenging roguelike games, be sure to give it a try! 👹

It's interesting how many fields are game dev adjacent. I've chatted to folk who do VR coding for museum demonstrations and mining safety tutorials, and now to folk who handle GIS data in a very similar manner to what we do with plotting out game info. Fun how many principles cross over!

I love when the #Godot post isn't about the game engine because I'm spend a good long moment either baffled by the personification choice, or fully getting behind it.

I tried using bevy during an in person game jam and it had me wait 45 mins for every fresh install which was unfortunate as it meant I did very little coding and like 6 hours of the event I spent recompling between the old and new bevy versions as I tried to get a set of packages I liked working.

Showed hidden enemies quite a few times But I don't think I showed what happens if you hit or run into them before they attack Pretty obvious something is off😆 #pixelart #indiegames #indiedev
