All indications are that only Minnesota will prosecute in the fatal killings of Good and Pretti, and that the core legal issue will be "Supremacy Clause immunity." My subtack today is about that, and at 2 PM ET I'll also do a substack live w/ @stevevladeck.bsky.social to unpack the issue in depth.

Via email, House and Senate Democratic leadership demand that "Kristi Noem should be fired immediately, or we will commence impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives... We can do this the easy way or the hard way."

Rittenhouse had a rifle which he brandished, Pretti had a pistol he kept holstered. Rittenhouse shot and killed two people while Pretti didn’t shoot anyone. For that, Rittenhouse became a cause celebre on the right, meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago, speaking at TPUSA events, and raising big money.

About a week before federal agents shot him to death, Pretti “stopped his car after observing ICE agents chasing what he described as a family on foot, and began shouting and blowing his whistle.” ICE tackled him to the ground and broke his rib. “That day, he thought he was going to die.”

First bill out of the House! Charlottesville advocates have been fighting for this since 2023, and I’m proud to have successfully carried it through the House (along with 3 other localities Fredericksburg, Falls Church and Newport News). On to the Senate!

Senate Democrats must demand reforms like federal agents taking the masks off and getting warrants. Those are common sense reforms all Americans should be able to get behind.

The Senate is set to vote on a bill this week that includes giving $64.4 billion for Homeland Security, including $10 billion for ICE. Some Democrats say they will not support the funding without additional accountability measures for ICE.

Senate Democrats to block government funding after second fatal shooting in Minneapolis

The move could force a partial government shutdown next weekend. Lawmakers are set to vote on spending bills this week but may look to split Homeland Security from other agencies.

3M not commenting on Pretti’s murder proves that liberalism is fundamentally incapable of contesting fascism in the exact same way that Molotov-Ribbentrop proves that Marxism is incapable of contesting fascism

This is how fascism exploits liberalism. Liberalism is fundamentally incapable of opposing fascists.

Every single House & Senate Democrat needs to have a co-sponsored bill drafted by Friday to enshrine President Donald J Trump's "No Guns in Public Act"

Trump: You can't have guns. You can't walk in with guns. It's a very unfortunate thing.

Senate Republicans must be on the right side of history and help rein in Trump's lawless agents. No more hard-earned taxpayer dollars on ICE or Border Patrol. No more lies. We need guardrails against their abuses, independent investigations and accountability.

At the very least, Congress must disarm ICE, prohibit it from using racial or ethnic profiling, end arrest quotas, remove agents’ immunity from criminal prosecution and civil lawsuits, and slash its funding. The Senate has the chance to rein in ICE this week. Keep calling: (202) 224-3121

I voted against giving another penny to ICE and Kristi Noem and remain hopeful that Senate Democrats will do the same. We must stop these lawless attacks on innocent American citizens. We will continue to expose the Trump regime’s lies and demand accountability.

Come on 2nd Amendment activists. Surely you understand your "rights." You’d be jumping up and down if this was a school shooting, protecting your rights to carry guns. So stand up for PRETTI. Otherwise, you’ve lost your gun argument.
