RCT: Providing next day #HIV viral load result did not improve linkage-to-care overall in people with or at risk of HIV; in the subset of people living with HIV, receiving a viral load result was associated with faster linkage-to-care. ja.ma/3KU4QiI
HIV study details: 119 men, 76 women. Interventions included HIV antigen/antibody tests, with/without viral load tests. Findings showed no significant linkage difference between groups. Control: 31/97 (32%). Intervention: 38/98 (38.8%).

Having cared for thousands of people living with #HIV, I can say plainly: this take is false, harmful, and deeply disrespectful. Odds are he doesn’t even know what AZT stands for—much less how it works.

“B/C rural areas have fewer people w/ HIV than urban areas, single sites often cannot recruit enough participants..They often lack trained research staff & the infrastructure to conduct research efficiently. Providers must juggle multiple responsibilities” www.idsociety.org/science….
Why rural HIV research must be coordinated, inclusive and equity-focused

Why rural HIV research must be coordinated, inclusive and equity-focused

When rural communities are left without the resources and support to participate in clinical trials our understanding of HIV is skewed. Key actions can advance and improve rural HIV research.

The first step to connecting children living with HIV is testing. This year, EGPAF teams tested over 310,000 children who were considered at risk of HIV. And thanks to EGPAF’s pediatric testing, 1,813 children were identified as HIV-positive and directed to treatment.
