After months of inaction, Republicans introduced a health care package that fails to address the health care crisis they created. I anchored a @cbc.house.gov Special Order Hour demanding the permanent extension of the ACA enhanced premium tax credits before they expire at the end of the year.

Congress has just 4 legislative days left in this year, and Republicans still don’t have a plan to extend ACA subsidies to lower Americans’ skyrocketing healthcare costs.

ACA tax credit expirations mean a $23B tax hike on the middle class. 15 years. No GOP health care plan. Just Trump, who raids taxpayer dollars and tells us, “Don’t make it sound so bad."

They both cost the same. Guess which option Republicans chose.

Pick one:
( ) Trump's $40 billion bailout to Argentina
( ) 2 years of lower health care costs

House Republicans are pushing a healthcare package that fails to actually address the healthcare crisis. This bill WON'T extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits and does nothing to stop the threat of losing coverage. Americans deserve a real healthcare solution that lowers costs.

The Affordable Care Act tax credits that help Americans afford their premiums expire in just two weeks. But House Republicans refuse to even hold a vote on extending these lifelines, ensuring premiums will skyrocket for millions of hardworking families.

LATEST: House Speaker Mike Johnson says he won't call a vote to extend enhanced subsidies under the Affordable Care Act, effectively guaranteeing they will expire at the end of this month.

We could force a vote on an ACA extension if four Republicans found the will to sign Leader Jeffries' discharge petition.

Four Republicans. That’s all it would take. Democrats have been sounding the alarm for months about extending ACA premium tax credits. If Republicans were serious about protecting health care, they’d come to the table, negotiate in good faith, and help save coverage for millions.

Cancer patients are already fighting unimaginable battles, forcing them to question how they'll possibly be able to afford insurance next year is simply cruel. We need to protect American healthcare, and we need to do it now.

Johnson was confident that blocking the amendment would not lead centrist GOP lawmakers to oppose the Republican health care bill scheduled to get a vote Wednesday.

Congrats, House Republicans and Speaker Johnson, you’ve done it again: jacking up health care costs for millions. Failing to extend ACA tax credits means 30,000 of our residents will see their bills skyrocket, with many pushed off coverage entirely. Bravo. 👏

🚨There it is — Mike Johnson and House Republicans are refusing to even vote on extending ACA tax credits. They are actively choosing to go into the holiday break, knowing health care premiums are doubling & tripling for millions of Americans in 2026, and doing nothing about it.
