i like pbta games! The Root rpg has been on my radar for that reason actually. and while Shadowdark has been fun, story and plot are not its strong suits

my group does a lot of pbta and games of that stripe but nearly died trying to play mouse guard, we just want to do rp with some dice lol

#ttrpg #artchallenge Day 2 - Republic City by Night Republic City by Night is a Blades in the Dark hack I wrote set in the universe of Legend of Korra. I ran a streamed playtest of it about 6 years ago. Nijang was the Ji Dao! Detectives informant cohort and owned the noodle shop under their office.

The absolute joy of Blades in the Dark is that one session early on, a player will roll a 4 and you need a complication so you create a crew member off the cuff who can betray them. Then six sessions later they commit high crimes to murder him and then they have his soul trapped in a bottle.

I played first four Phantasy Star video games and I've watched fair share of PSO played by my kids. Can attest something original could have been created w/ those rules and the setting wouldn't have any problems with FATE or PbtA conversion or even the Japanese F.E.A.R. or Group SNE house systems

It's the only thing more exciting to me in the FitD space than those two new Blades books. Can't wait!!

Drawing on Trek for older seafaring stories?! I'm so used to sci fi taking tropes from other genres, going the other way never occured to me. But it makes a ton of sense. (And using TSL like that is smart ^^ PbtA games in general are good narrative tools)
