Cutting Scope 3 emissions means companies need to buy cleaner materials, but supplies are scarce for these nascent technologies. Corporate buyers can pool demand & back long-term contracts, making them key to unlocking new markets. Our report shows how → bit.ly/4ncBUR3

This advantageous position was voluntarily abdicated by companies in North American, Europe, and Oceania, who had the R&D and engineering advantage, but failed the long term investment test, partially due to power of incumbents in hydrocarbons extraction and consumption sectors. #epicfail

This may been the best climate news I have ever seen. Chinese greentech manufacturing investments utside of China, that is industrial infrastructure, not sales, now equals Marshal Plan. Investments are ”straightforwardly good for climate” and focuses on Global South.

What this new poll from
@SearchlightInst
 on climate comes down to is really a question of how you view these charts in conjunction with each other.

Americans are telling Dems they think we are too focused on climate change at the expense of issues like affordability.

After 20-some odd years of telling Americans there’s a climate crisis, only 22 percent of the public think climate change is a priority.

So do you look at these findings and think, if we just spent another billion dollars on messaging we will finally crack the code? Maybe talking about climate in terms of affordability will work?

Or do you look at this data and think, hm, maybe we just shouldn’t talk about climate change. 1/

The criticism of the latter approach is, of course, that this means “giving up” on climate change. But that criticism assumes that talking about climate, or any issue, helps you make progress on that issue — which is a deeply flawed assumption.

The problem is, a lot of orgs take for granted that talking about an issue more is a good thing. This is partly because of the unquestioned acceptance that talking about an issue builds a mandate when in fact, it might just be polarizing the public.

The irony here is the actual ‘greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world’ was the scientifically illiterate fraudster and narcissist who managed to get himself elected to the most powerful office in the world by promising to get inflation under control.

Trump: "It used to be global cooling. If you look back years ago in the 1920s and 1930s they said, 'global cooling with kill the world.' Then they said 'global warming will kill the world.' But then it started getting cooler ... it's the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world."
