@kjschmid.bsky.social if you have the associated variants the predictions such as association of cultivars and others traits a polynomial linear regression with the weights would be such a good fit as i am expecting that the dataset is not large.

- French mustard vs. French's mustard - the Student in "Student's t-test" is a statistician's pseudonym - nachos are named after their inventor (Ignacio) - wisteria was supposed to be "wistaria" - ginkgo is a spelling error of "ginkyō"

Would a bayesian statistics course be beneficial for population modeling 🤔? Any advice?

"But how are you gonna make my css pop and sizzle if you don't understand the linear regression of this Big O result while calculating the price of tea in china?" -- Some random recruiter who approached me after saying they found my resume and though I maybe a good fit.

I hate the "surveys". They don't use actual statistical methodologies, and if you don't give all top ratings, you're putting a minimum wage slave's job at risk. :( Just do an ANOVA and stop penalizing your front end workers for the mistakes of the corp! 😡

Agree! I'm my specific context, we have a short workshop and p-values are seen as desirable. But this is a good reminder that they're not always appropriate.

Vladdy is having an all-time post season. Only 4 players have had a higher OPS in a single post season with a minimum of 50 PAs. One of them is Paul Molitor in ‘93. #stats

Yeah, I did not know there was a p-value for “strongly suggestive” that is different than explained by chance.

I also almost want to say that p-hacking shouldn't be an issue here because why are we using p-values in an exploratory study to begin with? I like this older Gelman post as well. Even with secondary data, we should be thinking more seriously about design and model-based exploration.

During the last 5 years, gas prices have experienced large variations (positive and negative). As a result, in the linear regression the overall contribution is almost zero. The authors did a quick secondary analysis without the 2021–2023 period.
