The Star Trek art of Michael David Ward michaeldavidward.com/ente…
'Signs of Intelligence' by Michael David Ward, 1993. The USS Enterprise-D zooms through the cosmos. Subtle Borg patterns add texture to the background. I remember this from the cover of the Official Star Trek fan club magazine.
'Second Star to the Right' by Michael David Ward. The refit Enterprise sails towards the vivid cosmos.
'Sting of the Scorpion' by Michael David Ward, in which the USS Voyager flies alongside many Borg vessels. Very dynamic graphic composition on this one!

I haven't shared this in a while, but it seems on topic right now.

#StarTrek Fonts: The Thread This thread is going to cover the official typefaces used for on-screen titles and marketing materials etc. Not in-universe graphics, alien scripts or any of that. Feedback and corrections welcome! Please check ALT text for additional context. 🧡 [001/???]

It would be unfair and impossible to pick a single favourite bit of Star Trek concept art. However…
Robert McCall concept illustration of the refit Enterprise from Star Trek The Motion Picture, against a gloriously atmospheric stellar backdrop, at warp and firing torpedos.

Another thread of Star Trek fonts! No structure this time, I'm just going to share whatever I can identify in whichever order takes my fancy. These fonts will mostly be official, or notable, or otherwise have caught my eye. 🧡 [1/∞]
Text reads:
Assorted Star Trek FONTS (Fully Illustrated)
On-screen, Toys, Games, Books, Comics, Ephemera, etc.

The word FONTS is written using five different fonts that may be familiar to fans. The letters burst forth from an orange starburst effect. The image is bordered like an old Star Trek novel and has a weathered paperback effect.

The whole image took a lot longer to make than I intended!

Polishing my chrome Star Trek logo collection.
Six shiny Star Trek logos, all recreations of officially-used logos except for one.

1. As it appeared on the Original Series VHS tapes
2. As seen on one of the Original Series soundtracks
3. As used on the Strategic Operations Simulator game
4. From the 25th Anniversary logo, 1991
5. As used on the TNG VHS covers
6. My own mashup logo, in the style of the Wing Commander logo
7. The Deep Space Nine logo
8. The Voyager logo

A TAS Kelvin appears.
The USS Fahrenheit, based on the Kelvin from Star Trek 2009, rendered in the style of The Animated Series.
Smaller than most other ships, I gave it only a single deck at the saucer rim and a much larger warp nacelle.

One of the first proper pieces of artwork I posted on Twitter around March 2022, a few months after creating my Star Trek account there. [1/2]
A datasheet for a TOS-era USS Stargazer, designed by Bill Krause. I drew it in the style of a page from the classic Franz Joseph Technical Manual.

A couple of uniform graphics I made in 2022 and never finished. Or at least never decided what I wanted to do with them exactly. I guess they look pretty finished in and of themselves. I have numerous others too. πŸ€”
Two uniform designs in the old Fact Files / Star Trek Magazine style. One is kind of a transitional TMP/TWOK in-betweener and the other is, I guess, a slightly more crisp DS9 style uniform, with shades of Lower Decks. I was just combining elements of my favourites really.

There's a great tutorial in the @captaindisillusion.bsky.social Patreon teaching you how to model the Trimaxion drone ship in Blender. It was a good introduction to subdivision modelling. I think mine came out pretty well!

The Enterprise-D bridge we got is my favourite from all the shows, so things worked out well. But I've always found these ideas for a much more casual, democratic bridge to be very appealing. I'd still like to see something like this in a Star Trek series one day. /1

Some more of my own Star Trek logos. The first would make a good comic logo too I reckon. The last one is my favourite and would have made a great Phase II or Lost Era logo, IMO. Others are just a bit of fun. Well, they all are really…

I've posted my 'Terok Nor' art here before, but I wanted to port across the thread I wrote on Twitter for it, as it is perhaps still the best - and certainly the most elaborate - Star Trek work I've done to date. 🧡
An illustration of Terok Nor, aka Deep Space Nine, in the style of the Cardassian computer interfaces used on the show.

Discovered a fantastic new site today that looks at brand identities from science fiction films. They do lovely graphic recreations and write fascinating analyses of these designs, from both in-universe and production perspectives. www.speculativeidentities.com
Johnnycab logo from the film, Total Recall (1990), including an orthographic rendering of one of the cabs.
Photo of a futuristic Texaco station from Back to the Future II.
Security card design for Cyberdyne Systems, from Terminator 2. (The article on this was particularly interesting, IMO)
Variations of the Weyland-Yutani 'wings' emblem from Alien.

Star Trek III destroyed one Enterprise, but gave us a generous helping of new ships (plus a spacedock) to compensate. The Bird of Prey and Excelsior went on to become fan favourites, but one is not so universally loved. Join me for a small Oberth-class appreciation thread… [🧡]

The USS Pioneer, my own starship design and render, made in #Lightwave3D back in ~2007. With hindsight I think I'd make the nacelles a bit less 'ample', but otherwise I'm still proud of this one. It had some well-considered details, animated textures, shuttle bay interior and a lighting rig.
