Echo the bat is leaning against the back of the car with arms crossed. Lester the hyena is holding a beer bottle and crashed out drunk on the ground in front of the car. Book 2.1: Passing Through - February 5, 2024 #readslumbertown #labyrinth #webcomics
Romy, an orange retriever dog in a purple striped sweater, is listening to music through a pair of headphones while walking through a graveyard in the early morning hours. The sky is still relatively dark, sun rising from behind the backdrop of downtown New Bork. Romy is contemplating to themselves as they walk through the graveyard, littered with autumn leaves and between gravestones with various dog-like names etched on them. Romy: 'It feels so long... since the last time I've been here.' They are seen trying to ignore a slew of ghostly spirits. 'Their energy surrounds me. Spirits that should have passed a long time ago.' A ghostly paw extends from a grave. 'Yet they remain. Suspended, as if caught somewhere between life and death...'

Book 2.2: Letters - February 12, 2024 #readslumbertown #labyrinth #webcomics
Romy is seen surrounded by spirits (ghosts hands and faces). They're listening to their music, but the music notes appear dissonant. 'Sometimes, when I come here, I can feel them reaching. Hear their whispers...' There's a close-up shot of Romy's nervous, sweaty face, while music notes weave around the panels. 'I wish there was a way to block them out. Their pain.' Romy stops at a gravestone, with a poppy flower sticking out next to it. In the next panel, they are seen holding an envelope. 'But when I come to visit you... I can't sense your presence at all. I can't smell you. Hear you. Or feel anything either...' Romy places the envelope by the gravestone. 'And... I know its crazy, but - I still like to pretend. That you can read my letters. There's a close up of the gravestone, which reads WALKER, SMOKEY 12/17/92. '... and share my memories, in some way.'

Book 2.3: The Stranger - February 19, 2024 #readslumbertown #labyrinth #webcomics
Romy removes her headphones. She places her paw on the gravestone, and closes her eyes. "... Dad... are you there?" A silent panel depicts Romy waiting and listening for some kind of answer. A tear falls down her face. "Hah. I'm crazy. This is CRAZY." A white ermine figure watches Romy from behind a tree, surrounded by poppy flowers, while pink scent wafts around. Romy: 'My therapist said it might be good for me. To try to reconnect. But I don't even know who you are.' We see a different angle, from the mystery person's POV, looking at Romy at her dad's gravestone. 'How do I connect with a stranger? Someone who should be familiar to me... but isn't?" A tree branch cracks, causing Romy to turn around in shock.

Book 2.4: Scent of Poppies - February 26, 2024 #readslumbertown #labyrinth #webcomics
Romy, nervously, "W-who's there?!" She sees the figure of the white and black stoat, leaning against the tree. She wears a formal black coat, skirt and hat with a poppy flower on the brim, and she doesn't have a face. Romy: 'This... this isn't right... this isn't - who IS that? What are they doing here? This isn't how I remember..." Boone pops up out of nowhere between them, waving his hoof excitedly: "HEYA, ROMY! What'cha up to you?" Romy puts her arms up and 'yipes'!

Book 2.5: Beast Pool - March 4, 2024 #readslumbertown #labyrinth #webcomics
The scene transitions to Romy, scrunched down on a blue beanbag chair and writing in a scribbly notebook. Boone is hovered over the table. They're in the Lost and Found break room. Boone: "Are you writing something? What is it?" Romy, self-conscious, quickly bends over the notebook and covers up the pages with their arms. "Whuh?! Uh... it's NOTHING! Nothing important! Nothing at all, actually!" Boone gives her a knowing look. "Hmmn... if you say so." He grabs a pool stick and gets down on all fours, snorting like an animal and holding the stick in his mouth while wagging his tail. There's a backdrop of a pool table behind him. "Up for a game of pool with your FAVORITE pal? Beast floor rules... all teeth or NO GLORY!!!" Romy: "Er - okay! I love beast pool..." Boone does an excited dance, "BaaaaRIGHT!" He walks over to Echo with his drooled on pool stick, where she's hanging upside down with her eyes closed. "Suuuuuuuuure you don't wanna play, Echo?"

Book 2.6: That Day - March 11, 2024 #readslumbertown #labyrinth #webcomics
Echo looks at the drooled on pool stick, unimpressed. "Ehh. YEAH. Hard pass." Boone walks off, unbothered, whistling and twirling the ball rack around his finger while Romy sighs in relief. Romy: 'Whew. That was close. Maybe I should put this thing away before -' They look down into their journal, where there are no words written, just a bunch of illegible scribbles. 'NO! Not again...' They appear distraught. 'Every time I try to record my memories, my words come out like total mush.' They close the journal, which says Memory Log on it, with doodles of a shooting star, sun and moon. 'I... really don't want to forget my memories... but they've been fading so much quicker than before. I need to remember... remember that day.' Boone is seen in the background, clonking himself in the head while trying to juggle a few pool balls.

Book 2.7: In the Shadows - March 18, 2024 #readslumbertown #labyrinth #webcomics
Boone draws attention to a couple pool balls in his hoof, with a large visible red bump on his head. "C'mon, Romy! These balls won't hit themselves. Hehe." Romy, while putting their memory log journal on the bookshelf. "Right! Coming..." They walk to the pool table with a stick in paw, while Boone cheers them on - though they are still too deep in their thoughts the flashbacks of their vision to notice. 'Let's see... the graveyard. My dad's tombstone.' Boone: "You're up first, kiddo! Take your best shot!" Romy preps the pool stick: 'That person in the shadows... who WAS that?" They aim the stick while holding it in their mouth. They think back to the silhouette of Janus White (the stoat) peering from behind the tree. 'For some reason, I don't think they belong there. In that flashback.' They avert their eyes nervously. 'So... if that's the case...' The Janus silhouette appears at the other end of the pool table from Romy's POV. 'What are they doing in such a personal memory?'
