UnitedHealth has sought meetings with President Trump, although it has not secured one yet, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday. The attempts are part of a bolstered lobbying effort in Washington, DC, by the top U.S. health insurer at a time it faces numerous regulatory challenges, the paper reported. UnitedHealth has been grappling with high costs and federal investigations, including a criminal one into its Medicare billing practices, which have pushed its share price down around 30% this year. Stephen Hemsley returned to the CEO role in May, after the ouster of Andrew Witty, and promised to regain investor trust.

oh i thought he stepped down? maybe the board of directors forced him out or something behind the scenes. probably a good idea because this is extremely inevitable was kinda funny that toyota was doing lobbying to try and stymy electric vehicle adoption like 5~10 years ago too

Another thing is from the outside, a lot of this stuff can seem very straightforward when it is anything but. "Of COURSE Representative John is doing this because he takes money from this lobbying group I don't like!" Maybe. Or maybe his legislative staffer is just confused about something.

2. Demilitarize our bases in other countries unless otherwise requested to stay by the country 3. Remove war funding for other countries when they violate human rights 4. Remove corporation and foreign interest lobbying 5. Reinstate humanitarian aid including vax, meds, food, shelter, etc

Farming as a profession doesn’t deserve this pain. But farmers who voted for it definitely do. They’re lobbying for federal bailouts, and they’ll get them from Trump. Their desperation, which Trump created, will be solved with our tax dollars and our children‘s burden of even more national debt.

I am old enough to remember the failure of a government health care website being grounds for congress investigation if not impeachment

Well said. Big oil, car manufacturers, etc have been lobbying to subsidize and soft mandate provate vehicle ownership despite it being the *single* most space ineffecient manner to transport people the more populated a given area is. Trains, much better use the more population you have.

that's a good one. Civic responsibility is personal responsibility for the community. Not "tactical voting"!!! It's like when you visit Europe, you'll notice very little litter. that's not based on what others do, it's personal responsibility. Would Wales vote for brexit now, given the choice?

Harris has been a staunch supporter of Israel for years. In 2017 she addressed the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s (AIPAC) annual conference and reminded attendees that the first resolution she co-sponsored as a senator was aimed at combating “anti-Israel bias” at the United Nations. “Let me be clear about what I believe. I stand with Israel because of our shared values, which are so fundamental to the founding of both our nations,” she told the crowd.
