1/6 www.leparisien.fr/so...

Attending a conference where researchers in my field (studying online misinformation and manipulation) are commiserating over all of our canceled grants, all in service of this: so this man and his regime of propagandists and conspiracy theorists can dictate (un)reality without challenge.

This exchange is so very telling. Trump repeatedly claims the photoshopped MS-13 on Kilmar Abrego Garcia's knuckles is real, Terry Moran keeps telling him it isn't, prompting Trump to say this: "I never heard of you. I picked you. You’re not being very nice. He had MS-13 tattooed... Just say yes!"

That’s the tragic irony of the Trump approach. “Above all, the US has become unreliable. A “transactional” US is one always seeking a better deal. No sane country should bet its future on such a partner, especially against China.” giftarticle.ft.com/giftarticle/...

Cars are very cool, but I think perhaps we should roll back some of the things that make them so cool, like the fact that a single headlight assembly for my car costs /over a thousand dollars/. No wonder cars are so expensive to insure now!

I feel like, at some point after the election, Whitmer was looking for a new adviser and said “get me the guy who put Dukakis in that tank.”

I need an adult-sized replica of this black cat throne. Photo from my collection, no documented date/info.
Black and white studio portrait photo of a happy white male toddler with blonde hair, wearing a white romper, leggings, and dark leather booties. He is sitting in a unique wooden chair on which the sides are in the shape of two black cats. Their legs make up the chair legs, their tails extend up the back, their backs arch gently along the sides of the seat, so that on either side of the child’s knees a happy black cat face looks forward. It’s a little hard to describe, I hope that makes sense! Like two black cats with the child suspended between them.

Last October, ProPublica and @documented.net published secret recordings of Project 2025 architect Russell Vought discussing plans to eviscerate entire agencies and decimate the morale of federal workers if Trump won a second term. "We want the bureaucrats to be traumatically affected," he said.

Just got mine. Totally expected, but it still sucks. Probably the most for all the work that so many of us put in on behalf of US taxpayers that is now wasted and will never come to fruition.
The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) has undertaken a review of its award portfolio. Each award was carefully and individually reviewed, and the agency has determined that termination of certain awards is necessary because they are not in alignment with current NSF priorites.

Effective immediately, the following are terminated:

NSF Award Id

NSF is issuing this termination to protect the interests of the government pursuant to NSF Grant General Conditions (GC-1) term and condition entitled 'Termination and Enforcement,' on the basis that they no longer effectuate the program goals or agency priorities. This is the final agency decision and not subject to appeal.
