Izzy had been lost to a cloud of hormones and instinct ever since they found Edward. Shaking, whimpering, and locking his gaze on Izzy as soon as he saw any of them, the only word he'd said since they found him was "alpha." He said it desperately and pleadingly as he wrapped himself around Izzy. It was as though he latched onto Izzy with deep, invisible claws then. Each of Ed's whimpers in his sleep tore at Izzy's insides as he lay with Ed on his chest in his own cabin. He couldn't keep himself from picturing it. That alone probably made him rotten, but it plagued his mind as he lay there. He knew, medically speaking, little about the process. He knew enough to know the general "how," though. And he couldn't help but picture it. The images fanned the flames in his chest, raw instinct mixed with a loyalty, responsibility... affection he's always felt for his captain, just never to this extent. Never in such an impossible to ignore manner. When he found Ed, Izzy's body moved without his mind to tuck Ed into his arms. When he heard Ed call for "alpha," Izzy wouldn't have let anyone else answer him. Ed whimpered again. Izzy was hard as a rock in his pants. He had been for the majority of the time since they found Edward. He longed desperately to feel the brand new parts of Ed that he knew must've existed. He longed to replace the feeling of whomever violated that space before him. Some part of Izzy that was still clinging to rationality spun on insisting that there must be some way to reverse this entire process. Maybe he ought to be giving Ed space from any alphas at all. He wasn't sure Ed would like that. He hadn't even looked at another member of the crew in the day since he returned. Not even Stede. When anyone came too close, he became frantic and aggressive, shouting for "alpha," until Izzy separated him from anyone else.
Izzy thought he might feel some sort of satisfaction about Edward wanting him, remembering him, but it was fucking odd. It was fucked that Ed couldn't even seem to see the world around him aside from Izzy. He didn't know what the fuck to do with that. Part of him wondered if Ed had lost his mind entirely. Maybe he wasn't seeing Izzy as Izzy at all. Maybe he thought Izzy was whatever sick fuck had done this to him. Maybe he'd regressed back to when he was a ship's boy and Izzy would offer him a cigarette in the night, when he came above deck looking pale and shaken. The idea of Ed back in the mind of a scared kid or still trapped as a mental captive of the men who did this to him... Neither thought was particularly appealing. But, he was overwhelming fucking hard all the same. If Edward shifted wrong, he might just pop his fucking knot. Edward whined again, the sound clearer and sharper. His eyes shot open, turning frantic immediately. "Alpha," he gasped. "Here," Izzy comforted, his own heart racing as Ed came to. Ed rubbed his forehead against Izzy's chest, curling his long legs up tighter against Izzy's side. He made a quiet noise somewhere between contentment and fear. Izzy might've struggled to read such a small sound containing such complicated emotion last he saw Edward, but there was something instinctual about it now. There was some other aspect of distress to his scent that it took Izzy longer to pick up on. That is until Edward's stomach noticeably growled, and Izzy realized they were rather late for breakfast. Ed had never been one to skip meals, luxuriating in the surplus of food allowed to the captain of such a successful vessel. But, Edward was not the same Edward. "Hungry?" Izzy asked.

Okay, so who’s (re)building email on atproto (spaces)? Sending people long-form. Baking-in β€œpermission to send me email for a given purpose/until a particular criterion is met” (thing delivered, etc)”, adding support for embedded lexicons for richness, but not arbitrary HTML.

The bright blob of hydrogen gas cataloged as N88A is seen at the right. It measures a mere 3 light years across. Emerging from the cool, dusty interstellar medium in a nearby irregular galaxy known as the Small Magellanic Cloud, N88A hides hot young stars at its core. The false-color Hubble Space Telescope image was recorded in the characteristic "H-alpha" light emitted by hydrogen atoms as they are ionized by the young star's energetic ultraviolet light and then recombine. Other regions of ionized hydrogen (H II regions) which surround new born stars can be over a thousand light-years across but astronomers now recognize that these small ionized hydrogen blobs contain some of the most massive stars known.

Smashing time was had watching Space: 1999 on the big screen. Theatre was mostly packed, and it was wonderful to see Moonbase Alpha in such vivid colour and definition. The Metamorph got quite a few laughs from the audience!

www.rolfolsenastrophotography.com/Astrophotography/Nebula... This image shows the famous Pillars of Creation region of the bright Eagle Nebula (Messier 16) in Serpens. Constructed from monochrome exposures in two very narrow wavelength bands of ionised Hydrogen and Oxygen, the data has been combined into a colour image to reveal this highly detailed and very dramatic scene. The bright colours are due to emission from the ionised gases, energised by light from nearby stars. The stars were removed during image processing to fully reveal the intricate structure of the nebula. Orange-red nebulosity corresponds to H-Alpha emission, and the blue areas are OIII. The core area of the nebula was made famous in 1995 as the "Pillars of Creation" by images from the Hubble Space Telescope. The pillars are giant columns of gas and dust, approximately 9 light-years long, that are slowly being eroded away by intense radiation pressure from nearby young stars. The nebula lies 6000 light-years distant in the Sagittarius arm of our Milky Way galaxy. I know the #permissioned-data spaces-alpha is indeed an alpha and much will change, but have there been DNS changes today that removed the wildcard for handle.spaces-alpha.bsky.network? I can't resolve my test account's handle anywhere except the PDS login screen today. cc @dholms.at
