#showmeyourknits the theme this week - Autumn Knits. It’s spring here now but back in 2019 I made a 4Seasons set using my handspun yarns & here is Autumn, a capelet or short poncho. I entered 3 of the Seasons in that year’s Bendigo Sheep and Wool Show - Autumn got a 2nd prize. 🧶 #handknit #handspun
A hand knitted brown wool capelet (or short poncho) is shown on a mannequin. The background is a white painted brick wall and under the capelet, the mannequin is wearing a black skivvy. This photo shows the front

The capelet is loosely knitted in mid-brown, chunky handspun wool - it was from a naturally brown sheep - this yarn is undyed. It was spun rather unevenly - there are slubs etc. The knitting is in 2x2 ribbing with decreases into vertical ‘spines’ at center front & back - this makes it V-shaped like a poncho. It has a loose soft turtleneck collar.

Appliquéd at random onto the capelet are largish knitted leaves 🍁 They are shaped a bit like maple leaves and are also knitted from handspun yarn - variegated - cream apricot pink plum purple …

Leaves were from a Noro pattern - capelet is my pattern

With practice and patience, it is actually possible to spin cotton on a Lendrum wheel. The natural green cotton fiber in the background shifts magically from beige to green with a little baking soda in the finishing wash. #spinningyarn #fiberarts #fiberart #handspunyarn

Saturday spins are so relaxing. I give myself a luxurious 2 hour start to the day, complete with 2 cups of coffee. My conundrum? WHAT DO I NAME THIS YARN?!😂😅 "Sea Breeze"? "Fairy Light"? Ideas appreciated 😊😬 #handspun #knitting

Support spins take me a while, so I like to pick the special braids from my stash. This is the softest blend from @ixchelbunny.bsky.social called Tundra, with cashmere, angora, and quivut. I'm attempting to spin from the fold for the first time and it's a bit challenging right now #handspinning
Timber tibetan-style support spindle resting on a small patterned green dish, next to an open braid of soft combed fiber in the colors of the forest- brown, deep greens and a bright spring green

My tatting project in progress so far! My own pattern “Daylily Dance” PDF is at Goimagine goimagine.com/tatting-patt... also on Etsy. #fiberygoodness #tatting #fiberarts #lacemaking
Unfinished doily or table runner in progress with several motifs still not connected. A ball of pinkish red thread is at upper left with the thread attached to a tatting shuttle nearby. 2 more tatting shuttles are at lower left, attached to a cream colored thread. There are dark green narrow motifs in the partially finished section and some of the tatting is hand dyed colors of pink to light green.

I need a bit of colour today, and am keen to start dyeing these locks for more fibre play on my new drumcarder. Fleece is Corriedale x Border Leicester and there’s a bit of English Leicester too. #handyeing #fiberprep

Making granny squares with handspun yarn I haven't been able to figure out what to do with, which is truly joyous. But the crochet hook that I wanted to use for the next bit is MIA...why does this always happen. 😂
4 granny squares sitting next to each other in a square. They are multicoloured: two have a lot of blues and purples, they others have more green and yellow. The background is a rainbow stripey blanket

My blend of 'Merry Merry Unbirthday' is done \o/ Thats now 4 of 8 completed from my Wonderland blends! Up next is 'Poor Bill' I love this blend- it gives cozy mossy vibes 🥰🧶 - #Yarn #Fiberartist #Handspunyarn
On top of a crocheted drawstring bag made with green & purple handspun yarn is a turkish spindle with a partly spun rolag of mainly various shades of greens mixed will a little bit of black & grey fibers. There are 3 of those rolags peeking out of the drawstring bag & to the right are 4 mini skeins of handspun yarn the colors are a hodgepodge of oranges, pinks, white & a bit of blues & green.

Starting to organise my yarns and fibres, here’s a few finished skeins that haven’t found a project yet Do you always spin for a specific purpose or do you sometimes spin for the joy of it, and accumulate these extras? #HandSpinning #HandSpunYarn #SpinnersOfBlueSky
A white plastic storage box of hand spun yarn skeins sits on a multicoloured rag rug. The skeins are loosely piled and have an assortment of different colours - we can see bright rainbow coloured skeins, rich teals, multi tonal reds, autumnal colours and greys poking through

I am fueled purely on how slow it is to ply on a drop spindle 🤣 usually I'd try to let that slowness tame my ADHDemons, but I wanna knitting this Shetland into a scarf before the winter holidays lmao.

So while my Mum has been offering to get me a spinning wheel for the holidays... That would just rob me of the joy of getting fed up and making my own? (No, I'm super grateful forreal, she's the best) I'm so thankful to all the people online who have posted diy charkha instructions. Y'all rock.
A homemade charkha-like spinning wheel. Bare with me, folks. I'm gonna do my best to describe it.

The base frame is made from two large knitting needles, spaced by popsicle sticks, which are secured with rubber bands. It's all secured with rubber bands. There are so many rubber bands.

The maidens are two fidget spinners arranged vertically parallel to one another. The center grips have been popped out to expose the ball bearing, and another large knitting needle is shoved through it to make the spindle. There is a large bundle of plied yarn on the spindle. The yarn is oatmeal colored Shetland and spun quite fine.

The drive wheel is arranged perpendicular to the spindle and is made out of an old plastic bobbin. It is slotted onto a popsicle stick that is stuck into a third fidget spinner's ball bearing. There is another popsicle stick at the top of the one used for the drive wheel shaft, attached at a 90 degre angle. That one acts like a turning handle for the drive wheel.

Its drive band is yet another rubber band at the moment, but that has its issues and will be replaced soon.

The whole critter is strapped to a laptop, with more rubber bands, to give it some sturdiness.
