I'm amazed that only DVD release of the original versions of the films remains the non-anamorphic laserdisc ports from the limited 2 disc editions. Does anyone know if not releasing these versions was a condition Lucas had for the Disney deal?

Mine is not a music dad but he did really like Enya for a while!
But it would have been on CD, he's more of a tech dad (not so much now he's in his 80s) so we were early(ish) adopters for home computers, cds, digital cameras, all that stuff. Even had a laserdisc player for a bit!

The arcade game from 1985 used cel animation by Toei on LaserDisc. For this version, instead of using compressed video, Wolf Team redrew frame by frame into beautiful pixel animation.

With the benefit of hindsight, what I should have been doing at the point in technological history I bought this was spending every penny running around hoovering up all the records I could lay my hands on. Never trust anyone who says a format is dead. Maybe the minidisc. And the laserdisc. And VHS.

One question I've gotten a coupe times is "will I scan (x) Gundam series?"
To all of it, yes, if it's on LaserDisc, I will scan it.
I've obtained every series released on the format, and most editions (sans one variant of box sets), and will—over time—cover them all.
