Saw a decent band the other night and I’d like to listen to them some more but they have a common noun for a name and I simply cannot find them.

150 countries now recognise the State of Palestine as a sovereign entity. This represents approximately 77.7% of the United Nations' 193 member states.

UK recognition of Palestine as a state is welcome, if decades overdue. It does not stop this genocide though. We need sanctions against Israel and the companies enabling it. The cost of continuing the slaughter must be made far too high for it to continue.

Recognition of Palestine is welcome, even if it's decades overdue. But it can't be just symbolic. It must be followed by robust international action, including boycotts, divestment and sanctions, to make Palestine's statehood and security a reality.

Good. But this must only be the first step. It doesn't end Labour's complicity in the ongoing atrocities in Palestine. UK-made weapons are used, UK forces train Israel's army, and Israel's president is welcomed to Downing Street. We urgently need an end to the genocide.

This was a big week in Parliament, with the Victims, Witnesses and Justice Reform Bill passing. I also led my own debate on the intensity and frequency of wildfires, and questioned government on healthcare and children's rights.
Emma grins in a cream coat, next to a railway. Text reads "A look back at this week. Led a debate on tackling and preventing wildfires. Met with trade union reps. Questioned government on upholding children's rights under UNCRC, and on healthcare in Skye. Voted with a majority of MSPs to pass the Victims Bill, abolishing Not Proven. Spoke at MECOPP's 25th birthday celebrations, recognising the contribution of carers

The UK Government’s recognition of Palestine is a welcome step, and one that is long overdue. But words alone will not stop the genocide in Gaza. Sanctions, an end to arms sales, a ban on goods from settlements, and the suspension of the UK–Israel trade deal must follow.

While our campaign teams were knocking down the Blue Wall, we were winning more seats than the Scottish Conservatives north of the border. We can overtake them in May too. The Scottish Liberal Democrats WILL beat the Conservatives.

Why do you think the Lib Dems do all their jokey stunts, Laura? Could there be a reason they feel compelled to do that?

I’m only surprised this headline didn’t finish with ‘and why this is all good for Nigel Farage’
