Okay, cards on the table, I really love how Gibson approaches the character of Dixie Flatline, but how anyone could read Neuromancer and come away thinking, "Yeah, that's goals!" is utterly beyond me!

“Linda in her panic, plunging blind through the surf. "Stop her," he said, ‘she'll hurt herself.’” From the Overdrive digital edition, Chapter 23, Page 605-607. Tagging @greatdismal.bsky.social aka William Gibson, author of Neuromancer (1984).

There's some things AI is beneficial for and that's rarely the thing being sold, I'm not sure the CEOs even remember "this can help identify tumours" because they snorted too much drugs & are dreaming of making the Neuromancer AI real

I read Neuromancer waiting in a hot car on Percocet after badly spraining my wrist. My friend wanted to finish out the day skiing and I had nothing else to do. I remember little clearly. It exists in my mind mostly as vibes. I refuse to revisit it as I've already had the perfect experience.

This, to me, is what Neuromancer looks like. Not the game, just the box art exploded into an entire world.

Maybe it's because the first cyberpunk works I really engaged with were Neuromancer and Blade Runner, but my understanding of the genre has always been that it's doom-laden noir. Hard-luck protagonists encountering vast instituional power and surviving to live another day if they're lucky.

These, but put them on their side thumbs up, so that your hands are positioned like you're holding a basketball. This is the most natural position for your wrists and the most comfortable for typing during extended periods. I never stopped thinking about Wm Gibson's "stack" from Neuromancer...

On the one hand, there's the shiny end of tech, like Wintermute, Neuromancer, Rei Toei, Sense/Net producing multi billion new yen SimStim series. On the other hand, we have the gritty end, like Lenny Nero peddling black market SQUID recordings, or OpenAI peddling ChatGPT to anyone in earshot.

Meat brain: _Neuromancer_ is a story about the dystopia to which we cosign ourselves if we continue asking this trajectory of individualism, capitalism, and consumption. AI brain: _Neuromancer_ is a story about our perpetual striving to overcome our limitations and control that which we are […]

On another note, I realised that most of these books were released before 2000. I guess that's where my book interests lie haha. Also, I've only read through Neuromancer out of all these soooo I'm really hoping hoping I can get through the rest without taking 5+ years.

Shogun is such an airplane read! But I've always preferred Tai-Pan for some reason. And a nice paperback, superused copy of the Neuromancer lives in my backpack rent-free as well, just in Case

It's wild, right? "Neuromancer" predicted the internet and AI! 🦾 What do you think will be the next big prediction we see come true? 🪐📚 #Cyberpunk #FutureTech

I can’t believe every cyberpunk science fiction media is turning out to be correct.

The description in neuromancer of Case recollecting a hornet hive as a biological gun and feeling instantly compelled to burn it into nothing really stuck with me

A good opening to a novel isn’t genre specific. It needs to be concise, and replete with imagery, in my humble opinion. Here’s one of my favorites: The sky above the port was the color of a television tuned to a dead channel. —Neuromancer
