A cool night reduced numbers to 113/52 in SE Hants VC11. NFY was a Portland Ribbon Wave and NFG was Aroga velocella and the Scrobipalpa ocellatella from the other night. 3 RDP, 1 Four-spotted Footman, 2 O. semirubella, 1 European Corn-borer hinted at migrants on the loose #migrantmothuk #teammoth

82:48 to my South Hants VC11 garden last night. Some nice bits - Jersey & Garden Tigers, shaded broad-bar, rosy rustic, four-spotted footman & a diamond back, but this Gypsy Moth was the star, a new moth for me. Great antennae - face on it looks like a brown long-eared bat #teammoth #migrantmothuk
Gypsy Moth - a few have been caught locally so no surprise really, but a new moth for me!
Face on these antennae look like the big ears of a brown long-eared bat
This pic a took a few years ago. A brown long-eared bat with ears up. I may have to start a new feed of moths that look like bats!

Bedstraw Hawk-moth the absolute star of our trap in Fair Isle last night, about the 15th record for the Isle. Technically the highlight though was Common Carpet; first for Fair Isle and just the 6th for VC112 Shetland. Overall 234/19, dominated by 114 Diamond-back Moths. #TeamMoth #MigrantMothUK

Small Mottled Willow in my garden moth trap (mid Norfolk) last night (Tues), a #MigrantMothUK (along with 2 Diamond-backs). Sciota adelphella (Willow Knot-horn), new for garden on Monday night, may also have been a migrant though seems to be on the verge of colonisation. #TeamMoth #NorfolkMoths
Small Mottled Willow caught in my North Elmham moth trap last night (1st June).

A brown moth with orange spots on the wing.
Sciota adelphella (Willow Knot-horn), caught in my garden moth trap on Monday night.

This moth has reddish-orange base of the wings and a less obvious reddish patch on the top of the wings in the distal half. The wings are mostly dark brown but as well as the orange there are two irregular pale lines crossing the wings.

After success from the garden, I emptied the trap at work, and waiting for me at the entrance of the trap was a Small Marbled. Also, in the trap was some small early instar caterpillars but struggling with ID, if anyone help? #teammoth #migrantmothuk
